Situated amid the rocky arches of a crypt below The Botanist is Bath’s newest underground bar, styled as a medieval apothecary and offering more space than most. The Botanist has done a good job of sprucing up Bath’s Grade II* listed Octagon building and Beneath is a new venture for the national chain. The Octagon was once a chapel and, though the tendency at the time was to keep a morgue beneath, this chapel had a wine cellar instead. Today, you can choose from a cocktail list that favours botanicals and strong flavours. DJs play later on.
