Old Government Cottage is open on the last Saturday of the month. The Heritage Garden is beautiful and full of Heritage plants.

This is a wonderful way to learn about Bathurst's history. The cottage was once the residence of the Commandant of the Bathurst Settlement, established in 1815 by Governor Macquarie. It has had several functions since then but is preserved intact a rare example of an early Bathurst home. The volunteers are friendly and willing to share their extensive knowledge of the area.
