Fort Lewis College has beautiful displays of artifacts and insightful information on the ancient civilizations in the southwest. Combine a trip here with visiting archaeological sites in the region for a wonderful cultural experience.

If you are into Native American art and culture, the Center for Southwest Studies museum and gallery at Fort Lewis is fantastic. Not huge, so you can enjoy it fairly quickly, it is curated by one of the best Anthropological staffs in the country. A true Durango asset.
