I have listed this as Shanklin Old Village but as you will be staying in Shanklin, you walk (or drive if you need to) to the old village, take in the sights, maybe a cream tea, then enjoy Shanklin Chine, lovely during the day or lit up and looks fantastic in the evening, once through the Chine, you have the fisherman's cottage dating back to the 17th Century at the bottom of the Chine, then a stroll along the beach, deciding which one of the many pubs and restaurants to eat and drink at (something to suit all budgets) the views are fantastic, maybe hire a kayak , have an ice cream or play crazy golf at one of the three course Shanklin has, before strolling back to the caravan after a fantastic day, we would defy anybody not to enjoy themselves in Shanklin.

Quaint isn't the word, with thatched cottages, lovely eateries and tea rooms along side artisan shops

Popular sightseeing village on the island. Independent shops, tea rooms and restaurants. Take a evening walk through The Chine and along the seafront - don't worry there's lift back to the top of the cliff.

Built in 1690 as two or three fishermans’ cottages, the sugar pink Old Thatched Tea Shop is considered the oldest building in Shanklin and is now an award-winning tea room. With a quaint and traditional aesthetic, vintage china plates decorate the walls and a fairy garden enchants visiting children. Steeped in history, The Old Thatch has retained its charm and popularity over the years and is renowned for its indulgent clotted cream teas, house blend coffee and delicious homemade cakes and scones. For history lovers, a tunnel runs underneath the cottages which would have been used by the fishermen and smugglers to hide their contraband and as their get-away.
