The Kennet and Avon runs through Bath but is a peaceful retreat. The tow path is popular with walkers, runners and cyclists.

Walk along the Kennet and Avon canal from Bathampton car park in towards Bath. Either walk back, or have lunch in Bath and grab a taxi back... The walk along the canal in bath is really lovely. You can cycle along it too!

You can join the canal from the cottage, and walk into Bath city centre away from the traffic.

Tale a stroll along the towpath of the K&A from Widcombe to Sydney Gardens where you can go through a lovely old white-painted iron gates into Sydney Gardens and down to the Holburne Museum.

Trip Advisor says, "The Kennet & Avon Canal is a waterway that covers some of the country's most scenic areas. With many bike paths situated along the canal, cycling is a popular way to explore Bath and its surrounding areas. Despite the unpredictable English weather, I'd still recommend spring/summer to cycle the route".
