This is my #1 recommendation if you're crunched for time but still want to see as much as possible - and on a budget! Gives you the perfect introduction and orientation. For about €8 and 30 minutes, this tram takes you around the iconic Ringstraße or "ring road" circling the inner district. It was built in the mid 1800's to replace the old city wall (thanks, Franz Josef!), a small piece of which is still visible and will be pointed out on the tour. Simply going around this road shows you 90% of the iconic and historic spots in the city - Parliament, Rathaus, and the State Opera House just to name a few. After, you can walk to Stephansdom in 5 minutes!

take a walk around the ring street! teh ring street is encircling the historic city vienna (today's 1st district) and has a lot of the important historic buildings placed along - just do not take that tram tour, it in unfortunately not to recommend

Take a walk around the Ringstraße. It will get you to a whole bunch of Sightseeing spots!
