Lokvarsko lake was built in 1955 for the needs of the Croatian Electricity Company (HEP). Fishing club ŠRK "Lokvarka" was established on 28th of April 1959 with 27 members. Due to the exceptional quality, purity and oxygen-rich water, in the lake live capital specimens of brown trout, chub, carp and pike. State record brown trout (99cm and 8.5kg caught 2000) and world record brown trout from 1968 (124cm and 25.5kg) were caught in Lokvarsko lake.

Umjetno jezero veličine 2,1 km2, dubine 40 m, pruža se sve do podnožja Risnjaka. Osim mogućnosti šetnje uz jezero, u njemu se ljeti može kupati, a tijekom cijele godine pogodno je za ribolov. U ovom su jezeru uhvaćene neke od najvećih pastrva na svijetu!
