Simple restaurant with a very specific concept, serves you the algarve in each plate with a fixed daily many. Local ingredients and ancient grandmother's recipes. Expensive but for some might be a worthwhile experience. For foodies. Price: 30-35€ per person
This is a must if you want to savour the Algarve ́s cuisine. You don't choose your food, the menu is set and they don't cater for fussy eaters. It began 20-odd years ago with artist Jose Vila cooking up “flavours of the Algarve” for his friends. These meals have become so popular and well known that a restaurant evolved. There is no menu, but a typical four courses might include an aromatic broth of cockles, octopus roasted with potatoes, lamb stewed with fresh peas, and chickpea soup. Finally, an uncorked bottle of the local brandy, medronho, is placed before you with a selection of miniature Algarvian cakes.
