Trata-se dum Monumento Nacional no qual é possível ver vestígios da presença Romana no Algarve "como mosaicos de temática predominantemente marinha, revestimentos marmóreos e cerâmicos diversos, estuques pintados e escultura decorativa."

The Roman ruins of Milreu (Portuguese: Ruinas Romanas de Milreu) are the remains of an important Roman villa rustica located in the civil parish of Estói in the municipality of Faro, Portugal, classified as a Monumento Nacional (National Monument). The Milreu ruins constitute the most prominent and well preserved evidence of Roman presence in the Algarve. They are mainly composed of the remnants of a once luxurious villa with annexed thermae and several surrounding buildings, including a temple, mausoleum and industrial and commercial structures.[1] The archaeological site still preserves part of the once exuberant mosaics (mostly maritime motifs) that decorated the floor and walls of the villa. A 16th century house is also located in the area, alongside an interpretation centre.[2]

The Roman Ruins of Milreu or Ruins of Estói are an important archaeological site in Estoi, in the municipality of Faro, Portugal. It consists mainly of the wealthy Roman villa of Sambada or Sambata, with annexed baths, and the various buildings around it, including a temple, mausoleums, and various industrial and commercial structures. It also includes a 16th century house, which was built on top of the ruins. The ruins are famous in Portugal and abroad for their thermal baths, for their temple and for the mosaic panels. The villa has been inhabited since the 1st century and underwent major alterations in the following centuries, while the pagan temple, built in the 4th century, was later used by the Christian and Muslim religions. Considered one of the most important archaeological sites from the Roman period in Portugal, they were classified as a National Monument in 1910. The archaeological complex includes an interpretation center for support and information for visitors.
