Barry Island is just over an hours drive from The Mews House. Made famous by being home of Gavin and Stacey. A fun family day with a lovely beach, cafes, restaurants, shops and amusements. You can hire a beach hut for the day, just google Barry Island Beach Huts. You will find a map of Barry Island up in the games room.

If you love the atmosphere of the funfair and the seaside, Barry Island is the place to be. Barry boasts some beautiful beaches! To the East side of Barry Island's 'Whitmore Bay' is 'Jackson's Bay', a sandy cove which is only a short walk around to the 'point'. To the west of 'Whitmore Bay' - just a short walk away - you will find 'The Old Harbour' and 'Watch Tower Bay', which have beautiful stretches of sandy beaches. Next to the beach is the Knap Promenade, where you will discover a vast pebbly beach. Alongside this beach is 'The Cold Knap', where you can take a stroll around the lake. After all that walking and beautiful scenery, why not stop and rest at the Lakeside cafe shops for tea and cake, or maybe an ice cream! Barry train station is a 5-minute walk from ty Hapus. There is short, and direct, line to Barry Island.

Great day out at the safe sandy beach, with an amusement park open in the summer. Tours of the Gavin and Stacy film sets. Lots of parking.
