This is a full day hike up Ireland's highest mountain. It's a gorgeous way to spend a day, especially if you get good weather up on the top. It's not a technical climb but it is a long one. This hike is not for small children or the elderly... or for people who have never hiked before. It is definitely a doable trip for active walkers or fit folks. We offer guided day walks including lunch for a reasonable price. Damien is an experienced climber and has trekked in locations such as India, Pakistan, Bolivia and Chile.

Carrauntoohil is Ireland’s highest mountain at a height of 1039m. It’s a challenging climb, but it’s also truly magnificent. The access to carrauntoohil from Cronins yard is appx 8Km from our accommadation. Standing at 1,039m, Carrauntoohil is the highest mountain in Ireland and is set among the beautiful Macgillycuddy Reeks in Co Kerry. Given their height, this mountain range can have very changeable weather and can be dangerous at times so experience or a guide is required if you’re new to the area. You don't have to go all out and attempt the summit, there are great hikes up the route, but you must be prepared, Good Hiking boots, warm layers, waterproof gear and compass and map if possible. Conditions can change quickly in this mountainous area
