Administratively, it is a commune in the Côtes-d'Armor department in northwestern France. It is famous for its pink granite rocks, very mild micro-climate and Mediterranean vegetation, due to the warm Gulf Stream coming from across the Atlantic. must go Island, you have to visit it at least once in your life. No cars allowed. You must go to Arcouest, park your car and take the boat. Check the boat timetables on internet by typing "Vedettes de Brehat" . Rent a bike when you arrive at Brehat's harbour, if you want to be able to see the whole island which is not huge but enough for a full walking day without resting.

The island, also known as the Island of Flowers, is famous for its pink granite rocks, very mild micro-climate and Mediterranean vegetation, due to the warm Gulf Stream coming from across the Atlantic. Many day-trippers travel to Brehat every day by the ferry service (les Vedettes de Bréhat) in order to escape modern life on a beautiful island where motor vehicles are banned. Whilst there don't forget to visit the main tourist attractions, the Paon & Rosedo lighthouses, the St-Michel chapel, the Guerzido beach, the Birlot water-mill and the Verrerie of Bréhat [glass works].

Bréhat Island is a must-see. You may buy your tickets for the ferry online, in town or at the landing stage of L'Arcouest (Ploubazlanec). You will need comfy shoes, a hat, solar cream and a jacket (for the boat). It is a car-free zone, watch out for the tractors. You may rent a bike on the island. Have a pick-nick on one of the beaches. Visit the Verrerie de Bréhat (Bréhat glass blowing studio). You may also book a ticket for a cruise around Bréhat Island.
