Havis Amanda is a sculpture by sculptor Ville Vallgren between Esplanade Park and the Market Square. In addition to the naked maiden figure, the fountain complex includes four sea lions on the edge of the pool and fish spraying water from the central platform. The sculptures are made of bronze and the pool is made of red rapakivi granite from Vehmaan Uhlu. The total height of the fountain is 5 meters. The sculpture was unveiled in 1908. On May Day, the statue is the focal point of the student celebration when it is washed and painted. The student unions in the Helsinki metropolitan area alternate between legalization. Whenever Finland wins the World Championship in hockey, people gather here to celebrate, often naked (mostly men)
