Similar to Ellis Island in New York we have a small Emigration Museum in Hamburg as a lot of Germans came through Hamburg on their way to the US in the late 19th century. Well worth a visit and easy to reach with the S-Bahn.

Here you can experience the history of immigration and emigration over four epochs in the new BallinStadt. In a total of 3 houses you will accompany people with all of their personal wishes and dreams that took them with them on their way to a new home. You can also learn a lot about Albert Ballin, the founder of the former emigration halls in Hamburg.
