Lugares para ficar em New Baltimore
Enjoy a quiet respite from the city in this architect-designed tiny house overlooking a meadow, deep in the woods. Located on 20 acres of land with private trails and Catskill-mountain views, this bespoke cabin feels blissfully far away from everything, yet it’s only a 15-minute drive from vibrant city of Hudson, NY. Experience a peaceful off-the-grid retreat —complete with hand-crank Victrola. Time moves slower here. The sky is closer. The stars, brighter. Note: NO electricity. NO Running water
The setting is intimate, serene, secluded. Clerestory windows contribute to a sculptural play of light against gently angled, hand-plastered walls. Downstairs: A bold, vintage-inspired ceramic tile floor, a wood-burning stove, and a bay window with a window seat for long, lazy afternoons of reading. Upstairs: the loft bedroom features wide, white-washed pine floors, a comfortable full-size bed and hand-crafted cabinets. Savor the pleasures of camping, of being close to nature, while experiencing the comforts of an idiosyncratic, beautifully designed abode. The cabin is well insulated, thus stays cool in the summer and warms up quickly in the winter. The cabin comes with a supply of drinking water. Cooking can be done indoors, on the wood-burning stove, or outside, on the Weber grill. Plenty of firewood (walnut, harvested from the property) awaits you. An outhouse toilet is sited about 200 yards away from the cabin. There is NO electricity and NO running water. If there is snow the drive is not plowed so the cabin is only accessible by parking at the end of the driveway and hiking to the cabin. This is approximately a 400 yard walk in the snow so bring boots or snow shoes and wear a backpack to get your supplies to the cabin!
The Hudson River, and boat launch for canoes and kayaks, is just a 20-minute walk or 3 minute drive away. The Stockport Creek, a conservation area, is even closer. In the opposite direction are trails on hundreds of acres that are protected and owned by Scenic Hudson. Fishing: There are striped bass and large mouth bass under the Stockport Creek bridge and under the Amtrack bridge, where the Stockport Creek feeds into the Hudson River.

Obrigado, Brieane !!

My home is an 1880 Second Empire style Victorian house in the center of a small hamlet on the east side of the Hudson River. There are views of the Schodack Island Park from the cozy upstairs guest bedroom. Close to that room on the second floor is another small bedroom, a bathroom, and a room with weights and mats that serves as a fitness room. If its nice outside, there is an epic wraparound porch to shelter your relaxation.
It's a great opportunity to stay in a Victorian home with many furnishings from the era. The house was originally built for the owner of an ice house, as harvesting ice was major industry along the Hudson River in the late 19th century...Most of the original flooring, moldings, and hardware remain in house... I think you may enjoy staying here if you appreciate local watercolors, 19th century furniture, and political history.
A quiet scenic spot, in a true backwater location of Upstate NY---Yet only 15 minutes from downtown Albany, 22 minutes from the hip meccas of Hudson and Chatham, and only 13 minutes from quaint, historic Kinderhook! There is a State Park minutes away too. Great cycling and kayaking environments right outside the door. Route 9J is not very busy. Occasional Amtrak train will pass by down the embankment, but not very loud. Many bald eagles and blue heron populate the area.

This is a romantic and sensual open floor plan 2-bedroom apartment in a guesthouse on a 15 acre property. The lower apartment is another guest space that can be rented in conjunction, if so desired. This apartment has been designed in an eclectic style featuring vintage, antique and modern furniture and accessories. Enjoy a private back porch, access to a large lawn and a shared sunset-view platform! The guesthouse is set back from the road and has lovely western Catskill Mountain views.
The neighborhood is very rural with a horse farm, dairy farm and Samascott Orchards close by. The Hudson River is a beautiful bike-ride away and walks alongside the River evoke a pre-civilization landscape. For those seeking culture: Seven car minutes away from the farm you can visit the Jack Shainman Gallery in Kinderhook. The friendly village of Kinderhook offers quite a few historic mansions and old farm houses, like Martin van Buren's (8th President of the USA) "Lindenwald", the Van Alen House and the Vanderpoel House. Further away you find Olana, Clairmont and the Thomas Cole house. Historic Hudson is 20 minutes away and offers fine dining, galleries and vintage/antique shopping. Art Omi is in the vicinity as well with many culture and art events. Kinderhook has a Restaurant for foodies: "The Flammerie", with a "Biergarten" featuring Bavarian specialties among other things . And there is a lovely wine bar in an old townhouse called "Dyad". Down at the Hudson River is a Mexican restaurant called "Pico Di Gallo" with good food and friendly service. During the summer every Saturday morning you find a farmer's market in the main square of Kinderhook.

Thoughtfully designed two-bedroom apartment located above a former millinery shop built in 1880. Beautiful natural light. Mix of vintage and modern amenities, including two guest bedrooms, full kitchen and bath, high speed wifi, onsite laundry and work desk. Private tree-shaded back porch overlooking Kinderhook Creek and Pachaquack Preserve. 20 minutes to Hudson. 30 minutes to Albany, the Berkshires and the Catskills.
An effortless upstate getaway combining modern convenience and vintage charm. Perfect for two couples, a small group of friends, or a live-work home base in the Historic Hudson Valley. Includes two guest bedrooms—one king, one queen. Full bath. High speed wifi. Apple TV. AC throughout. Calphalon cutlery and cookware. Linens and necessities. Private tree-shaded back porch overlooking Kinderhook Creek and Pachaquack Preserve. Centrally located on Valatie's Main Street with all of the village's amenities within a 2-minute walk—restaurants, antique shops, bookstore, pilates studio, wine shop, library. Easy access for tubing, fly fishing and swimming in the creek—entering through Pachaquack Preserve. (Please note that we don't provide kayaks, tubes or other outdoor gear, so it's best to bring your own) We're right next door to the Main Street Diner, one of the best diners in Columbia County. They open at 6, close at 9. We eat there at least 3 times a week. They're like family to us. You can park in the free municipal parking lot directly across from the house. PLEASE NOTE: This is a second floor apartment up a flight of stairs, in case anyone in your party has mobility issues.
Warm and welcoming, Valatie is one of the nation's first self-sustaining industrial villages—now a tightly knit community of small businesses, creative professionals and craftspeople. Pronounced “Va-lay-sha,” a Dutch word meaning “little falls,” Valatie is named after the three beautiful waterfalls that surround it. The tranquil Kinderhook Creek bisects the village and is a favorite swimming hole and tubing destination—as well as a Blue Ribbon trout fishing waterway reminiscent of the shallow, meandering rivers of Montana's big sky country. Prior to the Dutch settling the area in the 17th century, Valatie served as as a spiritual meeting place for the region’s nomadic Mohican tribes whose ancient footpaths are still walkable today along Pachaquack Preserve, a 5 minute walk from the house. Proud of its diverse history, Valatie is central to many of the Hudson Valley's landmark destinations. The Martin Van Buren National Historic Site, Luycas Van Alen House, Edna St. Vincent Millay's Steepletop, Ichabod Crane Schoolhouse and the Benedict Arnold House are all within a quick drive—as well as cultural destinations like the Jack Shainman Gallery: The School, Art OMI, the Shaker Museum at Mount Lebanon and the Won Dharma Center. A popular antiquing destination, Valatie is located just 20 minutes north of Hudson's thriving restaurant and cultural scene—and just 10 minutes away from Chatham's beautifully redeveloped downtown with a weekend's worth of shops, bookstores, bakeries, breweries and culinary restaurants—not to mention a vintage art house movie theater, the Crandell Theatre. Valatie makes for the perfect launch point for easy day trips to the Catskills, the Berkshires, Woodstock, Saugerties, Vermont, Lake George, the Adirondacks and Albany's Capitol District (including Troy's bourgeoning creative scene).

Breakfast at americano foi oferecido. Francamente ir lá vale a pena !!!

    Karine2017-04-26T00:00:00Z

Hudson Valley extends 150 miles above the tip of Manhattan. Designated as a National Heritage Area, the valley is steeped in history, natural beauty, culture and a burgeoning food and farmer’s market scene. Among many attributes, it’s the oldest wine producing area in the country, and the magnificent scenery inspired artists whose works became the Hudson River School of Painters. Lonely Planet describes the Hudson River Valley as “a real city break, with leafy drives, wineries and plenty of farm-to-table foodie options.” National Geographic Traveler named the Hudson Valley one of the top 20 must-see destinations in the world. PLACES TO EXPLORE IN COLUMBIA COUNTY, NY A visit to Columbia County can be as relaxing or stimulating as one desires. There is culture, history, recreation, antiques and unique boutiques, farm markets and u-pick orchards; bike trails and even a zip line adventure park. For art lovers, galleries, studios and an open air sculpture garden showcasing artists’ works from around the world. The architectural masterpiece, Olana, the home of Hudson River School artist, Frederic Church, and the Martin Van Buren National Historic Site anchor Columbia County’s many heritage sites. Miles of country roads take you through expansive breathtaking vistas where one can leave the city behind and embrace the countryside either by car or bike. Along the way, stop and visit one of the many tasting rooms on the Artisanal Beverage Trail. Year round theater performances, concerts and seasonal summer stock musicals and dance offer entertainment for all ages. CATSKILLS Small towns in the Catskills may be connected by country roads, but they retain an individual character. They each have pride in their hamlet. Between these villages, you’ll find rustic-hip farmers making cider from New York’s famous apples, quaint curiosity shops, religious communes, and the spirit of the artisan at every turn. That isn’t to ignore the main reason people move here: the incredibly beautiful landscape. The Catskills are a small but beautiful mountain range that offers skiing, hiking, rafting, streamside campsites, and some of the country’s best fishing. There is no shortage of memorable restaurants and hotels, and the best of which display the excellent local products of the region. Each one of these tiny towns has a central business district to stroll. Some might be as simple as two storefronts, others are a few blocks long. They each capture the wild spirit of the mountains. In the Catskills, the Bohemian Ethos of the 1960s has aged well.

Rustle up recipes in a restored, 100%-authentic Art-Deco-era kitchen, complete with decorative antique stove. Sit out on the porch rocker. Play the piano next to a gas-burning stove before drinks, round the campfire in the tree-lined fenced-in garden. Take a stroll down to the end of the street and walk along the mighty Hudson river.
Of note: Antique stove not permitted for use. Two electric burners are available for your use. -Restroom located on 1st floor. Campfire: You will need to provide your own wood and keep the fire low (below the stone ring) as we are in a residential area. Our kitchen is 100% authentic Deco era, minus the vaulted ceiling. After being mistreated for many years, we put back all of the detail that had been taken. Each door, molding, appliance, piece of hardware was obsessed over. Our home still has a ways to go, needing an exterior painting and finishing in the closets. We have come very far, please overlook the few "To-Do-List" items. Enjoy!
Set on a residential street, this 1880s Queen Ann Victorian is a 20-minute drive from the Hudson NY Amtrak station and 2hrs 20min drive from NYC. Stroll in the park and launch boats into the Hudson river, right at the end of the street. Wander among timeless brick buildings, stopping off at coffee shops and restaurants.
  • Bela casa, excepcionalmente curadoria, informativo e histórico- uma ótima estadia!

    Desireé2019-05-13T00:00:00Z

Great chuveiro!).

Obrigado Whitney e Isaak :)

Kinderhook is home of the Old School Art Gallery, which has gained an international reputation, and Martin Van Buren National Historic site, which includes woodland walking trails. Coxsackie is filled with history and gets it's name from the Native American Indian translation of 'Land of the Owls Hoot'. The cabin itself, along with the homestead, sit directly below the Kalkberg Indian Trail. Less than a mile away you can find the Bronck Home Museum and Gallery. In town you can find almost anything you need for your stay, with great restaurants like SoGo Sushi, Paul's Italian, Red's, Pegasus and Che’ Figata. Start out your day grabbing breakfast at the local it spot, Chrissy & Tim's Diner...and grab a great sub at Griffin's Market. In the historic Reed Street section of town you'll find period brownstones with great shops and favorites The General Store and The Yellow Deli. The Reed Street Bottle Shop boasts a great variety of wines and spirits and is a must see. Our local in town pub is the place to go any night, the Cask & Rasher has amazing food and a repertoire of IPA's that is pretty impressive. My favorite these days however is the Pear Cider, it's dangerous good! If you're a die hard beer lover you likely already know about our local fav's at Honey Hollow, google it to find out how to hang out with the owners and grab a growler...or two;-) In season you can head out to a movie at the local drive in just a few miles down the road where you can also hit up Blackhorse Farms and Barbara's Country Treasures, both are can't miss locations just minutes away and can supply gift items and then some. Feel like you need more? Athen's is just 15 minutes away and boasts a few great restaurants like The Crossroads, Rive Gauge and Bonfiglio & Bread. Just a few minutes more and you'll be in the city of Catskill, quickly becoming known for it's arts movement...you can find my favorite Thai food restaurant called Wasana's right on Main Street. Live music can be found at The New York Restaurant, which also boasts some great Polish dishes too and a fantastic bar that is hopping pretty much every night of the week. Hudson is Hudson...I need not say more;-) If you've not been to Warren Street it's only 20 minutes away and just over the Rip Van Winkle Bridge. Speaking of (URL HIDDEN) you are crossing the bridge take note of the historic landmark OLANA, Fredrick Church's Moorish inspired mansion that sits atop the mountain overlooking the Hudson River. On your trip 'back' it's worth pulling over the car at the park and walk area before the bridge and get out for a stroll on the Rip Van Winkle walking path to take in the breath taking views of the Catskill Mountain range! Up for a hike? Try Kaaterskill Falls. Is skiing on the agenda? Try Hunter or Ski Windham in NY or just over the border you can go to my favorite family friendly mountain at Jiminy Peak. If you haven't guessed by now there are MANY weekends of activities here you can enjoy...that is if you ever leave the cabin;-)

    Masumi2018-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • O lugar superou minhas expectativas.

    Dina2018-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Nós amamos a nossa estadia!

Eu adorava visitar a fazenda. Eu adoraria voltar!

A century old brick barn renovated in 2018, 10 miles from Hudson, close to Kinderhook, now a quiet, secluded, unique residence. Surrounded by gardens, sheep, and ponies, set off a country road, with a converted jungle shower, loft, close to Hudson, Chatham, bike/ hiking trails, walk to a waterfall, etc. Vegetable garden. Easy drive to Columbia County and Berkshire treats. The farm shares space with nature: insects, reptiles, wind, sun, etc. all exist regardless of their impact on visitors.
There is a queen bed upstairs in the loft (with secure gate for kids) and a queen size, new sofa bed downstairs plus full-size day bed. The kitchen is new, gas stove. Skylights and extra doors and climate controls added in 2018. The jungle shower changes over time and the photos here might not be up to date. More plants, humidifier, etc. We're always working on it. Another nice thing is how far back from the road the house is. If you have dogs or children, you can open the door and let them run out (assuming your dog is not interested in eating my sheep or your kids are okay outside). The shed by the house has bikes and the area only has gentle rolling hills, so I recommend a ride. If you want to ride horses, we can talk about it. The house is completely surrounded by pasture. There may be sheep and goats right outside. They don't smell or make noise -- they aren't that close. You are welcome to go in the field and pet them, say hello. The ponies may also be around, or in the fields just a few feet away. The animals have babies in the spring and that is lovely. We rotate them on different fields during the year, so you may or may not be surrounded by them but they are always pretty close by. In the winter, we have as much firewood as you'd like. Please be extremely careful and talk to us about fire in the house. Quite cozy, but, of course, potentially hazardous. Critters: This is an old house in the country. Mice do come in the house in the fall although you are unlikely to notice them. It's possible some ladybugs will emerge from the windows. Other flying and crawling things will be in the area, outside and maybe even inside from time to time. If this information about the usually very gentle and harmless but not completely and totally tamed local environment causes you to panic, you should probably look elsewhere.
Hello and welcome to the barn guesthouse. My family and I (Will) have lived in the hamlet of Stuyvesant Falls since 2004, moving from Brooklyn, and my mother Susanna move here from Vermont in 2015, next door. The barn that is renovated is on the 5 acre property with Susanna’s house and we have 15 acres next door. The pond is on our property, the garden and barn guesthouse are on my mother’s, but basically it’s all connected. We own sheep, chickens and ponies (plus many dogs and a few cats). Please say hello them. We also have bikes, canoes, inner tubes, ice skates, cross country skis and kayaks and pick up truck and all of that can mean a lot of fun, and we’d be happy to loan items out, but we need to plan in advance. Depending on ages and sizes, we may need to rent bikes until we can get more good bikes available for guests, depending on interest. There is a local swimming hole, but again we need to show you where it is, then you can go on your own. Local towns: Hudson is a city of extremes, with lots of investment, and housing projects. The media like to write about it. The occasional rock star, etc., plus tons of local life and cool stuff, as below. The town of Chatham is usual for being normal. Some of the Massachusetts towns are exceedingly fancy, some of the New York towns can be run down, other towns, like Hudson, are unique, but Chatham is just nice, normal, with plenty of great stuff without being too perfect and not expensive without being rundown and shabby. My opinion, of course. Plus, it’s a rural town with lots of city people on summer weekends. Kinderhook/Valatie neighborhood includes a lot of people who commute to Albany every day, changing the culture of the town. Philmont is close to the Waldorf School Hawthorne Valley and while the Rudolf Steiner/Anthroposophical philosophy is not everyone’s cup of tea, that community, centered in and around Philmont, makes the village is something special in America, although the casual visitor might not realize. The world’s most beautiful farm is there (well maybe that’s an exaggeration) but it’s a real working farm and they are pretty busy, Threshold. The roads back behind High Falls are gorgeous. Copake, Hillsdale, etc. etc. Greenport is kind of a strip mall and not a pretty one. Stuyvesant Landing: the cafe restaurant is great with stunning views. Nutten Hook/Ice House is historic and trails and canoeing is good. If you want to jump out of the canoe, I would suggest the Stockport Creek, also very near by. Hudson has an Amtrak station, many antique shops, restaurants, the Hudson Opera House, TSL, Basilica Industria, Club Helsinki, Spotty Dog Books and Bar. I like the cruelty-free diner with excellent local meat, Grazin’ Acres, with the cows from Kinderhook Farm on your way to Chatham, back roads. Swoon and Crimson Sparrow are great for fine dining -- and it gets finer in Hudson, Farmer and Sons and Fish and Game -- or good pizza a Baba Louies (a lot less fine, but still fine). Farmer’s market. Chatham has McCadden theater and PS 21 and a great movie theater (beautiful 1920s restored). The Pub has new owners. The brewery, Chatham beer, is great. Ron’s bike shop it top notch. The town park Crellin has a pond you can swim in and trails next to a creek, in addition to all sports, tennis, skateboard, playgrounds. You should also go to Borden Pond to walk around and Ooms Pond is stunning. Kinderhook. Farmer’s market. The Flammerie is nice as a restaurant. The cafe in the center of town is good with ice cream. Winter: Fire is obviously serious business! The wood stove must be operated with great care, please. Never remove anything from the stove (ashes, wood, etc). We’ll do that. Put only wood and paper in there. Always make sure the doors are securely closed when you go to bed or out of the house. Try the handle out before starting the fire, when it’s cold, wiggle it and see if you can securely close the doors. If you want to have the doors open to look at the fire, put up the screen and keep an eye out for anything falling out of the stove. There is a fire extinguish on the mantle behind the stove.

Recently renovated guest house on a 12-acre property 15min outside of Hudson. High ceilings and wood burning stove for a spacious yet cozy stay. Huge natural swimming pool w Bali inspired deck in a park like setting of rolling hills & colorful sugar maple trees. Fully equipped kitchen, memory foam mattress and all the amenities. In home Massage/Yoga available. Close to XC ski trails, 45min from downhill (Hunter & Catamount Mountains).
The main floor has oversized glass doors overlooking a natural swimming pond/pool and our 12 acre property. A rarity in the US, but popular in Europe, our natural swimming pond/pool uses plants and air filters to keep the water clean - no chlorine! It's a huge pool, (70x120 feet) with a sandy beach. You share the pond with the main house, but we always find there's plenty of room for everyone and often times you will have it to yourself. It does have plants growing in it and some turtles and frogs, but no fish. Upstairs there are two country-chic bedrooms (One double, one queen) as well as an open sleeping loft. The loft has 3 twin mattresses or we'll make them into a daybed for smaller groups. Memory foam mattresses and hypoallergenic bedding. The loft is perfect for yoga & meditation. The kitchen is small but has all you need in it. (See photos) we leave plenty of coffee & cooking spices for you. We provide a pack n play, kids toys and a stair gate. High Chair and baby monitor available on request. The guest house is about 100 yards from the main house and we share the pond/pool and hammock. There's a collection of music instruments & the barn has a great collection of games - both indoor and outdoor.
We live in an amazing neighborhood of rolling hills and horse farms. It's a wonderful place to walk, bike or XC ski. We are just down the road from OMI international sculpture park and 15 minutes to Hudson & Chatham, and about a half hour from the Berkshires.

Our quiet 2br apartment has two light-filled bedrooms, bath with clawfoot tub and beautiful sunrise views over the Hudson. The apartment is the entire second floor and includes a shared backyard with fire pit. Located a two-minute walk to the historic village of Coxsackie and riverfront park with a general store (coffee, food, beer), wine shop, and restaurant. Conveniently located to local venues and a 10 min drive to Athens, 15 min to Catskill and 20 min to Hudson amtrak
Our home is nearly 120 years old and we're new homeowners in the process of bringing it to its full potential. While we can't promise perfection, we tried our best to capture our home as-is and will do our best to make your stay as convenient and pleasant as possible. We live in the downstairs unit with our dog Duke and are always happy to offer recommendations in town and the surrounding region. Located between the Capital Region and Mid-Hudson Valley, Coxsackie offers unique access to events, cideries, breweries, antique shops, parks and places to hike. Long-term rentals and rental of the entire home (4BR, 2BA) is also available upon request
We love that downtown is a short walk from the house and close to many wedding venues. Here are some of our favorite things to do: Blackhorse Farms: open seasonally and great for produce, local meat, cheese, bread, plants and desserts, specifically pie! Hi-Way Drive-In: Quintessential 80's style Drive-In movie theatre showing first-run double features with a cheap and delicious snack stand! Reed Street Bottle Shop: this might be my favorite winestore ever. Great under $12 selection and the owners Susan and Shia make excellent recommendations for those looking for something special Mansion and Reed General Store: local stop for coffee, milk, cheese, bread, salad, beer and cider as well as dry goods. Seating area with WiFi and a lovely barrister! Che Figata: Standard Italian restaurant serving up hearty portions of fare. We love their caesar salad and pesto pastas. Cask and Rasher: Lively gastro pub with serious BBQ, great beer selection and outdoor seating. A 20 min walk or 5 min drive from the apt Coxsackie Antique Center: 100+ vendors. You can find anything here, including great bargains! Thomas Cole House: A short drive to Catskill brings you to the Thomas Cole House. The Hudson River inspired a whole school of painting. Find out why! Coxsackie Riverfront Park: Ideal spot for a water front picnic. The park has stations to grill, a boat/kayak launch, playground and river walk with beautiful views. There is also live music in the gazebo over the summer

As private as you can find! At the end of a mile long wood road on 11 forested acres on the Poetic Creek. No houses in sight - or earshot. A charming 'Camping Cabin'. Please read ALL the description, so you know what to expect and what to bring. _________-________________ Update: We are discounting the cost of the cabin by 75% for a month or more to make it affordable, if you wish to be safe in a safe location for a while . For a week or more, we will consider a discount also. Ask.
…….The Cabin is insulated and has an airtight wood stove. There is a Murphy bed with a queen size mattress. It does not have indoor running water or electric [other than a small solar electric system described below] - that's what "camping cabin" refers to. The forest has lots of wildlife, deer, wild turkeys, foxes, raccoons, great horned owls, etc. ----------------------- ……..For cooking there is a 2 burner Coleman camp stove, and outside, a fireplace. Solar power: Solar electric panels on the roof charge a storage battery. It has a USB port for charging small electronics and operating a couple of CFL lamps. ........Fire wood update November 2019: In November we delivered 6 truckloads of seasoned firewood to the cabin. Some of that is in a pile near to the cabin and the rest is in the wood shed. We also cut and split some oak trees for future firewood. That green wood is NOT seasoned and will not be ready for use as firewood until next spring It will not burn well until seassoned. Map attached. ……..Officially, it's the "Potic Creek" but one of our guests from Europe liked the location so much she named it Poetic Creek in her 2014 review. It is an idyllic getaway for those who appreciate nature. It is about 25 miles north of Woodstock; about 2 hour drive from the GWB. . . . . . When we started thinking about the possibility of sharing a cabin years ago, the question was, how can we do it? It is an hour and a half round trip from our home, so traveling to the cabin after every guest was not feasible. To make it work, we ask guests to bring their sleeping bags [or sheets and blankets] and towels, and “leave it as you found it.” We figured most guests who were interested in this type of retreat would be respectful of the next guest, and that has been true. We ask, if you cannot make a commitment to leave the cabin clean and tidy for the guest after you, and take with you any trash and empty water bottles, please don’t book a stay here. Once a month or so, we check out the cabin, restock supplies, and do any cleaning that’s needed. As in any cabin in the woods, mice do get in. If that would bother you, please don’t book a stay here. When we see evidence of them, we set traps and get rid of them, but before long they're back. …….Pets: Your dog is OK. Our two Yorkies love it there, we do not charge a pet fee. Due to past problems of guests with cat allergies, we do not accept cats. We do ask that if you bring your dog, that you do a thorough cleaning to remove hair and, that you not have your dog on the bed, unless you bring a sheet or blanket large enough to cover it. This is on the honor system, please respect other guests. …….At the cabin are plates, glasses, utensils, pots and pans, a French press coffee maker, T paper, paper towels, dish detergent, and candles, A Coleman 2 burner stove for cooking and spare propane canisters for it. Since it is an essential item, even though they are quite reliable, we keep a spare Coleman in the shed that has the porta potties. As it is camping, you will need sleeping bags, [there are a couple of quilts at the cabin so you could bring queen size sheets and pillowcases] and towels - and having a flashlight is a good idea, essential if you are arriving after dark. Bring what you would for any camping trip - matches, newspaper for starting the fire, and drinking water. In front of the cabin there’s a stone fire place and with a grill. We provide cut seasoned firewood. The firewood is provided for heating the cabin with the wood stove. Outdoors, only make a fire in the fire place in front of the cabin only, nowhere else. There is a small BBQ there. If you wish to use that, bring charcoal. ……. To repeat, please do not make outdoor fires other than in the outside fire place in front of the cabin. If you cook on the outside fireplace grill, it's best to split firewood to 1 1/2 to 3 inch diameter. Smaller sized firewood burns hotter and more quickly get to embers good for cooking. There is a maul [splitting ax] at the cabin. …….Bringing newspaper and matches for fire starting. There is an excellent, efficient Napoleon airtight wood stove for heating. It has a glass front door, so you can watch the fire burning. We will send instructions in case you are not familiar with the use of airtight wood stoves. Safety note: Do NOT use fire starting fluid in the wood stove, it is dangerous and can damage the stove. . . . . There is a small shed with 2 porta potties about 100 feet from the cabin. . . . . THE ROAD: The wood road in is a mile long. It’s a bit rough, but not a problem to drive in as far as the parking spot for the cabin. [We can drive in in our Prius, which is quite low to the ground, but do need to drive slowly in a few places]. Over the years, two guests [out of a few hundred] have told us they felt the road too rough. The parking spot is 250 feet from the cabin. The road from the parking area to the cabin is rough and steep, so without 4 wheel drive with good ground clearance, walk this last part. …….ROAD IN WINTER: Heavy snow would prevent you from staying at the cabin, and in that case we give a full refund or a rain check, at your option. With any snow, you will need to park at the parking area and walk the last 250 feet to the cabin. For more than an inch or two, 4 wheel drive is needed. If there is significant snow, it’s a good idea to have a shovel. ……..HEAT: The woodstove is efficient and heats the cabin well. Firewood is provided. We have been there when outside temperature was less than 20 degrees and been fine. ……..Water: The water from the river – and any surface water – would have bacteria and not be suitable for drinking unless purified. If the water is purified, it is potable. We provide a few ways to purify the water, but even so, we recommend bringing some drinking water. We have at the cabin a “Steripen,” which is an ultraviolet water purifier that will purify a liter in 90 seconds. As a backup to the UV purifier, there are “Aquatabs” -- tablets that purify a liter in a half an hour. Bringing water to a boil will also kill any bacteria. …….Toilet facilities:. There is a porta potty in a nearby shed. …….CELL PHONE SERVICE: We sometimes get service on our cell phones there – IT DEPENDS ON YOUR PROVIDER. We have ATT and Cricket. Reception is intermittent and weak, so often we have to walk up the hill to the parking area, and sometimes fo as far as the power linesm to get service. ……In addition to the queen bed in the bedroom, there is a queen size air bed. There is a foot operated air pump. ……..If you note that any essentials are getting low, please let us know so we can re-stock them. We can’t guarantee all are in stock, so bring essentials. ……. We have installed a timer on the lighting circuit at the cabin. This is to prevent the problem some guests have caused by leaving the lights on when they leave and draining the battery. So you will now see a timer mounted next to the solar control panel and storage battery. By turning the knob clockwise, it turns the lights on for up to an hour. A small inconvenience, perhaps, but better than having a guest come and find no electric. …….After you book the cabin, we will email maps, instructions, a primer on starting campfires, key information, etc. Best to print them out and take them with you. If they don't arrive by email within a couple hours of booking, please let us know. …….To reiterate: If you wish to stay in this cabin, please be prepared to leave it clean and take away your trash. We cannot travel there between every guest's visit. We can only re-stock and clean it periodically, if you are not prepared to do housekeeping at the end of your stay, please don't book it. Once or twice a year, a guest doesn’t clean up or take their trash with them. If that should happen, we ask that you deal with the issue and send us a bill, we will reimburse you for your time. ……..Thank you. Andrew Peck and Chloe Dresser ……. Texting AND emailing to BOTH of us is the best way to reach one of us if you have a question. We live in a remote cabin where phone reception is only occasional, but texts and emails reach us. ……... 2018 Update: …….Mice are a fact of life in a country cabin. Periodically, we set traps and get rid of them, but soon enough, more get in. If seeing a mouse or their droppings, would bother you, the cabin is not for you. . …….A guest sent us a favorable review a couple of years ago, which we copy here, not to toot our own horn, but because it serves to reiterate and emphasize some points that prospective guests should not overlook: ______________________________________ “This cabin is the perfect get away from the hustle of the city. The rustic cabin is totally secluded and right next to a small creek. There is . . . a queen bed, two chairs, and a wood stove. The bed is open to the kitchen and living room. There is a large dining table, two burner stove, and sink. There are plenty of pots and pans, a few glasses, and a few utensils. There is a cooler to keep things chilled. There is a large screened in porch that overlooks the creek. . . . There is an outhouse [outhouse changed to a porta potty in 2018] several yards from the house. Toilet paper, paper towels, candles, hand soap, and detergent is provided. Firewood was also provided and very much appreciated. The wood stove keeps you very warm in the house, and there is also a fire pit in front of the cabin. The solar power provides enough power to light the cabin in the evenings and keep your cell phone charged. Bring your own pillows, bedding, and towels. NOTE- The cabin is at the bottom of a steep hill. You must have a 4-wheel drive or you will not be able to get back up the hill. Park your car at the top of the hill and walk down. There is an honor system when it comes to cleaning the cabin. Make sure and leave the cabin clean and inviting for the next guests. Let the owner know if things need to be restocked. Catskill is less than 10 miles away and has a nice grocery store, Wal-Mart, and plenty of restaurants. Happy Camping!!!” .---------------------------------------------------------------- ……..The property is owned by Dresser Properties LLC. Your hosts are Chloe Dresser and Andrew Peck
We love that it is so remote and private, at the very end of a mile long wood road. If there's snow, it won't be plowed, you would need a four wheel drive to reach it in the snow. If you book it and there's snow so you can't reasonably drive in, we will give a rain check [snow check?] or a full refund - your choice. The road is passable by all but very low to the ground cars, except for the last 300 feet to the cabin which is steep, and should not be driven down unless you have four wheel drive. Before that steep part, there is a parking area.
No entanto, vale a pena.

    Sara2019-09-29T00:00:00Z

    Caroline2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lugar pitoresco isolado privado surpreendente.
