James was an amazing host, very welcoming and made sure we felt right at home. He made it clear that we could reach out to him if need be. The water house was even more beautiful than the pictures. My family and I would love to come back someday.

My husband, daughter and I, along with my friend and her family had a beautiful stay. The home is soacious, peaceful and gas everything you need. John was very responsive, we're low maintenance travelers so we didnt need much. The hot tub was heated and ready when we arrived. We used the oven toasters, the kitchen was filled with housewares. If you're into yoga/mind body connection there's lots of books to read and relax. We played cornhole outside. John had firewood reasy. The fire place is beautiful and easy to use. Locally we ebjoyed The Outpost, Fox and Hare Brewery, The Eldred. I can go on and on.

We had a great stay! The house was very pretty outside and decorated beautifully inside. It’s right at the top of a hill with a beautiful view of the mountain trees above and creek below. The house is right off the main road so you do hear traffic but it’s completely private. We booked this location to hike so it was perfectly situated between all the waterfalls we wanted to see. We enjoyed the hot tub after hiking although we fought for dominance of the tub with a big orb spider! Lol It’s to be expected in the woods. My son absolutely loved the game room and we had a blast playing pinball, foosball and the game table. The house was stocked with amenities but make sure to bring coffee, shampoo/conditioner and soap for the shower. The beds were comfy and the upstairs rooms all had fans to help on the hot nights. We loved going into town and ate at the Apple Valley restaurant and did some shopping in town. It’s a lovely area! Definitely recommend!

This is our second time staying at The Blue House of Catskills - we had another great time! Everything is very clean & cozy and the house/kitchen is well-stocked. We enjoyed using the soaking tub, hanging out on the deck/in the yard, and walking around the neighborhood and nearby lake. Lots of friendly deer walking around and we even saw a beaver! We had two people in each bedroom and two people in the living room on the two couches - it's the perfect space for 6 adults! There's local shopping, food, and the site/museum for The Woodstock Music and Art Fair is a quick drive away. Love this upstate escape and can't wait to return again!

Thank you so much for an incredible stay! My partner and I really took advantage of the peace and quiet to relax. The jacuzzi was our favorite part, along with the beautiful scenery. The heated tiles in the bathroom also added a special touch during the April chilliness. The bed and sheets were soft and comfortable. Waking up with the sun rise and the mountains in the distance was so refreshing. Our first night, all around the cabin was covered in snow and it was like a Winter Wonderland. The moonlight reflecting off the snow was magical. The following day, the sun came out and melted all the snow, revealing so much greenery. We were able to walk around the property and explore in the forest a bit, admiring a closer view of the pond. We made pasta on the stove and managed to get anything we needed from an Aldi, 10 min. away. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get away from everything to get some peace and quiet! Thank you again!!!

I’ve stayed at many Airbnb’s over the years. Not all reserved by myself. However, this is definitely in the top of the cleanest ones I’ve stayed at. That’s really important to me. I know things get missed sometimes, but I don’t want to see a strand of hair in the fridge I’m putting my food in or in the shower I’m washing my body in. Sometimes it’s inevitable and easily missed. But just a little more attention to detail eliminates that slight miss. Speaking of attention to detail, Lisa truly made me feel special when I walked in the door to a personalized note on the kitchen counter w/coffee and a snack. That type of attention to detail goes a long way with me. Just a simple thoughtful gesture. It’s the little things that are important! Also during our stay, Lisa remained in communication with me with any questions I had. It was an awesome stay with some preteens and a toddler. The teens enjoyed the game room while the toddler enjoyed the mini kitchen perfect for her size. Thank you!!

Great deal .. amazing place

I planned a trip to visit the Woodstock Museum and wanted to find a play to stay that was homey but also close to the museum. This listing was absolutely spot on to what I was searching for! The house was just as described on the listing! The area around the house was quiet and peaceful even though there are houses surrounding. The list of recommendations for sights and local eats were helpful while planning the trip especially if you don’t know the surrounding areas. Melinda was very responsive to any messages and quickly was happy to help if needed! Do yourself a favor and book this while you can!

After long drives, need a nice, clean, quit, comfy place to crash. Rustic Retreat was all that and more.

This was the best Airbnb for a dog one could ask for, and a great stay in all. Nice big fenced-in yard, toys, treats, dog-friendly furniture, well-stocked, clean, clear instructions. A perfect place altogether.

Maria and Max’s place was everything we dreamed of! It was a nice seclude, a cabin with a large backyard and a wonderful fire pit. We loved the decor inside the house, the beds were extremely comfortable, and everything was as described. It’s in a great location approximately 20 to 30 minute drive to multiple cute small towns in Catskills. We can’t wait to bring our friends back next time!

A wonderful spot and wonderful host. Everything was cheery and thoughtfully done. I knocked off a star for the price mostly because I wasn't anticipating how expensive it is to get around by Uber in the area, and to find an accessible grocery store - otherwise necessary to have a car. Ended up ordering UberEats... my mom was at another Airbnb down the road and the difference in how we were treated as guests was astronomical. Marina did not charge me for having my little dog, there was a little firewood for us to use, fresh coffee and tea, and all the amenities! Marina was also very responsive and kind, and left a very helpful note about whether the beach is public or not. 100% recommend. In contrast, my mom felt badly treated by the host, the place was poorly kept and she felt it was way overpriced in comparison to mine (Marina's). Good thing she was able to come here during the day, and we spent most of our time here, in the yard or the short walk to the beach.

Amazing location! There are various choices for hiking, including several Appalachian trails! We went on Stairs to Heaven, that was 7 min by car from the house. The house itself immediately felt like home. Design was amazing with beautiful combination of colors, furniture and wooden walls. You can find everything you need for comfortable life there. We went to celebrate my birthday and it was the greatest experience we had with renting a house! Special thanks to the host! Immediate responses for all questions that we had! And of course lake view directly from your window. Our soul and mind had beautiful rest here. We will surely return here! ❤️❤️❤️

Excellent stay for a small group - we only stayed for a weekend, but would be a perfect spot for a weeklong trip as well.

We had the most wonderful stay at Larry’s cabin in Smallwood! From the moment we booked, Larry was incredibly kind, helpful, and communicative. His advice on local activities and attractions was spot on and truly made our trip memorable. The cabin itself was cozy, warm, and inviting—exactly what we were hoping for. The fireplace was such a fantastic feature, adding so much charm to the space. It was incredibly easy to use, and Larry thoughtfully supplied plenty of firewood, kindling, and paper, making it hassle-free to enjoy cozy evenings by the fire. We also loved watching the local wildlife around the property! The deer often came up to the cabin, and it was such a treat to see them up close—it added to the peaceful, natural atmosphere of the area. Our dog, Lily, had the time of her life exploring the yard, which was perfect for her! On Larry’s recommendation, we visited the Smallwood dog park, and it was a highlight for Lily. We had a wonderful stay. The setting was serene and perfect for a relaxing getaway. The cabin had everything we needed, was cozy, and we especially enjoyed spending time by the fireplace. It was the ideal spot to unwind over a long weekend. We would absolutely stay here again!

We had the best time at Amanda s cabin in the woods. So cozy, so comfortable. It was impeccably clean. I wish I could live there. Amanda responded right away, the fact that it is pet friendly is a plus!!! I want to come back as soon as possible. If you want a little getaway, THIS is your spot. We had a fantastic stay! The place was really beautiful and large! Close proximity to some great sights, and it was very very clean! Rhona was very helpful and responsive and told us we could check in at any time, which made traveling much less stressful! The only thing was that the shower caused a leak above the dining table - it didn’t bother us, Rhona said that it sometimes happens if the shower deism so clogged. Also, good to be aware that you can hear everything through the walls - which was actually helpful for us because we could hear the baby that slept in the room right above us. Didn’t even need the monitor. Overall, we loved our stay and would definitely come again!
