Public transport 904 Bus can take you to the center, to the port or the metro station -to Athens or to the airport- at max 15 min, the bus stop is 40 mtr away in the main street. Taxi services are provided if necessary to airport, city tour, or port.

Well, my recommendation would be for him/her to stay downtown, to live as a true Athenian in one of the coolest, most culturally vibrant areas of Athens!
