Lovely double bedroom near the sea

We offer a lovely room with a super comfy king size bed. Share breakfast with the family or at your leisure - we will try and tempt you with the delights of porridge and maybe even kippers if you are feeling adventurous although cornflakes and toast are also readily available! We are a family of 5 - a forester, marine biologist and 3 children aged 2,5 and 8. Light floods through large windows of our spacious and high-ceiling top floor apartment in a traditional Victorian building. Comfortably furnished and oak-floored throughout, the apartment is warmed by both central heating and a Swedish wood-burning stove. The apartment is located in Portobello neighbourhood, 5 minutes walk from an expansive stretch of sandy beach. The beach promenade boasts popular cafes and lovely tradition pubs. Portobello is known for its quirky residential lanes and independent shops - butcher, fishmonger, grocers, sweet and craft shops. It is a safe family area which has traditionally been a seaside holiday resort in the summer months. Very frequent buses take 30 minutes to reach the historic city centre with its castle, palace, museums, galleries, ghost tours, cashmere and whisky. But its always nice to come home - to the neighbourhood where the sky meets the sea.

We're close to the medieval town and beaches of St Andrews - just 2 miles from the centre, so you can cycle/walk as well as drive. You’ll love our place because of its quiet location on a country estate: from here you can walk, golf, sightsee, in winter go up and ski at Glenshee; head to Edinburgh (1hr by train) and Glasgow, eat in fabulous restaurants or stay and cook in our well-equipped kitchen. Good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families (with kids), and furry friends.

The Courtyard Room sits upstairs within Ratho Park Steading: a stunning Scottish courtyard stable (built 1826; converted 2021). It borders Ratho Park Golf club (area of outstanding beauty), a walk from the heart of Ratho village, 8miles from Edinburgh centre. The large room is stylishly furnished (super king size bed), tv/wifi, and heated through ground source. The property has off-road parking with use of/ views into a beautiful courtyard. Tucked away just 300m from Paxton House, Dene Cottage has 1 double room with luxury bath / shower room in a rustic fairytale setting with woodland walks along the river Tweed.
