The East Wing of Islay House was very spacious and comfy. It was clean and tidy and did not lack any amenities. Sandra provided firewood for the fireplace and plenty of local information. The village of Pencaitland is quiet an peaceful with a shop/petrol station within walking distance and lots of short walks. There were lots of longer walks within 12-30 mins, including those in Edinburgh. Even better if: queen or king bed instead of double bed, description and external photos more accurately reflect that the accommodation is part of a larger house, and it is made clear whether or not both sets of gates can be shut to provide a full secured outside space for dogs. Overall we were very happy with our stay and would recommend :).

Thank you for allowing us to stay in your lovely home. It was a short walk to the play park and beach. House was as described. Kids enjoyed trying out the games and attempting to play chess. A lovely attentive host.

Excellent accomodation with good facilities (inside & outside) in a wonderful location. Theresa was very helpful & very responsive to our messages. This location is perfectly situated for the borders area, such as Peebles, with Edinburgh & the airport all within a 30 min drive. All in all a great place to stay & would highly recommend - would definately come back.

Our experience at this property in Scotland was wonderful from start to finish. The booking process was straightforward, and our reservation was confirmed almost immediately, making everything effortless. Arriving at the property, however, turned into quite an adventure. We arrived in the evening amid heavy rain, with visibility low, and had to navigate a few remaining potholes along the way (though most had been filled in). Thankfully, we managed to find the key safe, unload our luggage, and settle in for the night. The next morning was a completely different scene. We woke up to clear skies and stunning views across the bay from both the bedroom and the lounge—it was breathtaking. Our first instinct was to get dressed and head straight to the beach for a morning walk, which was the perfect way to start the day. Inside, the house is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean, with attention to detail everywhere. Premium shower gels were stocked in the bathrooms—a thoughtful touch

Stunning home but the views are the main attraction! Brenda helped me have the most stunning small family wedding and the photos I have are gorgeous. My family loved each of their rooms they are really modern and the beds nice and firm. Thank you Brenda!

My kids love the Swallows and Amazons books so to be able to stay here was truly like being in a storybook. The accommodation itself was a great balance between keeping the old world charm but with a modern touch. We came in winter and it was great, we hope to be back one year in summer.

We really enjoyed our stay, the house was clean & spacious and perfect for our family of four. We especially enjoyed the view from the loft room and the balcony area.

No pictures or reviews do this place justice!We have been to the estate twice now and it’s our favourite place to visit when we need to recharge. It’s great for the dogs, private beach, clear water, hikes at the back of the cottage , lots of wildlife, beautiful cottage. Views are out of this world. It’s worth every penny. Facilities are amazing especially in point cottage with the aga stove. We cooked many amazing meals. It’s the most relaxing place we have been regardless of the weather, and it’s beautiful all year round. Hosts were amazing and got back in contact straight away. Can’t wait to make another trip soon!

She and her family are wonderful hosts, making you feel totally at home, providing local knowledge, baking, tea and biscuits and showing a keen interest in you and ensuring you have a lovely holiday. A truly wonderful stay in one of the most beautiful properties Ive ever had the pleasure of staying at. The house is spotless and much bigger than what the photos show which is great as we were a large group. There was ample parking for 3 small cars which was a big relief over Easter as the town got very busy with walkers. Kitchen was full of everything we needed for the three days we stayed, albeit we were not brave enough to tackle the aga! The standout from the weekend though was Grahams hosting. A bit of a cult hero in our group now. Always responsive, informative and very resourceful, even going out of his way to source more parking options and check on life jacket sizes. Thanks Graham for making it a wonderful stay, we will be back!

Lovely lodge, beautiful surroundings. Our children (age 4 and 7) really enjoyed the hot tub. Going out on the boat was beautiful - request buoyancy vests in advance. House clean and comfortable. Well equipped for cooking.

An amazing stay for our Easter weekend getaway! The location is beautiful, waking up overlooking the lake was a daily high. The cabin was extremely spacious and clean - the photos for us didn’t quite do it justice - and the hot tub is well maintained. The only minor things I would comment on would be that the welcome pack is very basic for a 5* stay and that the hot tub maintenance gentleman came to empty the hot tub an hour before check-out on our last day, coming onto the cabin decking without notice. But overall, amazing stay, we’d do it again!

Absolutely loved our stay here. Pictures do not do this place justice, easily one of the nicest if not the nicest AirBnb I’ve ever stayed in. Great amenities for 4 adults and a big big hot tub! It was so peaceful being able to look out of the windows / decking and watch the wildlife too. Can’t wait to revisit, thankyou!

an incredible few nights away at The Tranquil Otter for my partners birthday. From booking to checking out, we were left fully satisfied. clean, accessible and in a lovely location with access to a private row boat to explore the lake. We had a lovely, relaxing time. Hot tub and sunken bath was a lovely touch 😌 😍 only downside was the hot tub in our cabin wasn't very private... a fence up blocking from the car park would be a nice touch 👌
