Misty Mountain Hut - Ruapehu

Misty Mountain Hut-Ruapehu is located in the sleepy little village of Rangataua, 5 minutes distance to Mountain road going up to the Turoa skifield and Ohakune. The 1 bedroom colonial villa has a beautiful view of the mountain. Unlimited wifi and a new firebox with plenty of firewood and a heat pump ensure you are warm in winter. My favourite time here is summer for amazing walks/cycling up mountains to enjoy majestic views. Misty Mountain Hut supports local staff by paying $40/hr for cleaning.

Black Box Cottage

Beautiful open style cottage to yourselves with great deck and views of the mountains . All bedrooms are off the main living area which encourages plenty of family time. 20 meter walk to shuttle pick up in National Park. The famous Tongariro Crossing, Ring of Fire (March 2020), 42 Traverse are some of the regions major events. National Park has access to awesome mountain bike tracks and some of the most beautiful scenic walking treks in New Zealand. Cafes and pubs all within 5mins walk.

Our cabin is situated in the closest residential village to Whakapapa Ski Field and the Tongariro Alpine Crossing - a famous one day trek. You’ll love the view of the mountain (on a clear day) and the ambiance of a warm log fire. Great for all those wanting to explore the beauty of the National Park and Central Plateau, skiing and snowboarding (winter season), tramping, mountain biking (all year round) or just taking a much needed break away from it all. Please note this is an unserviced holiday home. You will Need to supply your own linen and towels etc. Our wonderful bach full of character, is an old mill house which belonged to the local timber mill from the 1940-50s. It then spent several years as the Tauranga ski club, before being lovingly restored into a groovy bach full of rustic charm. It's the perfect place to getaway and relax, or to use as a base after your high octane adventures around the Central Plateau.

Our eco-friendly 3-bedroom house (built 2013) is nestled on 10 private acres of regenerating native bush just 7 minutes from Waimarino/National Park Village. Ideal for the Tongariro Crossing, skiing, mountain biking or bushwalking. Enjoy a cozy stay with a sunny deck, volcanic mountain views, log fire, solar power (with grid backup), and double-glazed windows. Relax in the wood-fired outdoor bath with complete privacy and views of the bush, deer and stars.

The Tree House with hot tub @ Wood Pigeon Lodge

The Tree House is set on a small hill in the tree tops, requiring being able to climb multiple steps for access through the bush. At the top you receive stunning views of the surrounding forest. This eco house generates its own electricity and is designed to capture the sun. The two person wood fired hot tub is the perfect way to relax after a day skiing or climbing the Tongariro Crossing.

KUBO : FantailSuite [Self-Contained Hilltop Haven]

Gazing over the Ruapehu plateau, KUBO is our little house on a hill with the private Fantail Suite — a tranquil haven where time slows, and nature feels close. Enjoy coffee in the lounge at sunrise, watch golden sunsets from the deck, or stargaze under clear mountain skies. Between Tongariro and Whanganui National Parks, it’s close to ski fields, hiking, and biking trails. NO CLEANING FEE.
