Fancy living like a hobbit in Hobbiton on a hobbity hill? Or perhaps you’d like to feel like Gulliver in Lilliput for the time of a weekend? The Little House on Gumstool Hill is as cosy as it gets. Sitting on the popular Gumstool Hill in the heart of the Cotswolds, The Folly (the cottage) is only a stone’s throw away from the centre of Tetbury. There are lovely walks just outside the cottage along the small river, and all the services are extremely close.
We have a self check-in process so you won't come in contact with anyone, and the cottage will be thoroughly cleaned using bleach, hot water, and anti-bac on all surfaces before every stay. If you want to self-isolate and book a period longer than 1 week, please send me a message. The cottage features lovely Cotswold stone and roof tiles. It is very small, but comfortable and some parts of it are newly refurbished. A paddle space saver staircase leads to the upstairs bedroom. It comprises of a king size bed, a high pile rug (snug for your toes) and two bedside tables (nothing else will fit!). You can have your breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner and supper in the kitchenette. Or alternatively you can nip into the local bakery and iconic pubs only a tiny stroll away. The kitchenette has two portable electric hobs, a microwave oven, a kettle, a toaster, a small fridge and all the necessary kitchenware and cutlery. We supply tea, coffee, sugar, olive oil and salt and pepper.
Tetbury has won numerous awards, earning the accolade "Heart of England in Bloom" and "Best Small Town." It was founded as an ancient hill fort, and on the same site was later built a Saxon monastery in 681, most likely by Ine of Wessex. Today, Tetbury is known as a small hidden gem of an English town, praised for its charming cottages and ivy-clad buildings and cottages, abundance of flowers and greenery, history, wool, antique shops, and historic buildings. Being in the Cotswolds, a number of lovely and popular walks are available to you, as well as the myriad of cute and iconic villages.

The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

As camas eram confortáveis. O chuveiro tinha muita água quente e boa pressão da água. Tudo estava muito limpo e a lavadora de roupas era um bônus adicional. Realmente amei acender uma fogueira à noite, já que as noites eram frias. Seria altamente recomendaria este lugar!

Wonderful modern semi detached house situated in the beautiful village of Tetbury within the Costwolds. It is within a few minutes walk of the town square, shops, antiques, restaurants and pubs. We're right in the middle of the Cotswolds so the main towns and villages are all within a 20-40 min drive. Main attractions in Tetbury: -The Royal Gardens at Highgrove -Westonbirt Arboretum -Clavenage House
The house has just been freshed up with new painting, flooring and furniture. The kitchen / dining area is fitted with new dishwasher, full size oven, fridge, Fred, hob and grill. There is one bedroom with a brand new single bed that can be converted to a double and another bedroom with a normal single bed (also new). There is a bathroom with bath and shower over, WC and sink. Toilet downstairs. Very cosy living room and very light and welcoming conservatory that opens up to a garden.
The town of Tetbury is in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds and is proud of its 1300 years of recorded history since 681 when Tetta's Monastery was mentioned in a charter by King Ethelred of Mercia. In the Middle Ages, Tetbury was an important market town for the Cotswolds wool trade and the town centre is still dominated by the splendid pillared Market House built in 1655. The town is known as an 'architectural gem' as many of the wool merchants houses still look as they did 300 years ago. Tetbury is well known for its 25 antique shops and its close proximity to Prince Charles's residence of Highgrove. The town has a wonderful variety of shops including many specialist shops offering a wide choice. Many of the shops are individually owned where you will receive personal attention of the owner and experience a level of service long since vanished from many high streets. Several of Tetbury's retailers have received national awards for excellence and the visitor will notice that many of the towns businesses bear the Prince of Wales feathers as a sign that they hold the Royal Warrant. The market town of Tetbury has a wide choice of tea shops, bistros, cafes, pubs and restaurants which offer a good choice of food and drink. Some of our favourite pubs are the Royal Oak, Snooty Fox or Priory Inn.

To honour its past, every year on the last Bank Holiday Monday of May, Tetbury Woolsack Races are held, an age-old tradition that dates back to the 17th Century. Men’s sacks weigh 60lb while women’s way 35lb, and they must carry their sack above their head as they run the 240-yard course up and down Gumstool Hill, past the old weaver’s cottages, as part of a relay. Although it’s free admission, with plenty of stalls, amusements and a fabulous street fayre, this event has raised a lot of money for charity in the past and is always hosted by a guest celebrity – watch this space! Minchinhampton is a very attractive, thriving hilltop town, situated on a tongue of high land between the Golden Valley and the Nailsworth Valley, 1.5 miles north east of Nailsworth. The town also sits on the eastern fringes of Minchinhampton Common, high above the valleys that were once prosperous with the production of cloth. The centre of Minchinhampton is a picture-postcard image of what people expect of a small Cotswold town, with a selection of nice shops and places to eat. The town is centred on its High Street and old Market Square, the main feature of which is the late 17th century Market House, supported on stone columns. The interesting Holy Trinity Church dates from the 12th century and has a truncated spire looking over the Market Square. The church was given to Caen's Abbaye aux Dames by William the Conqueror and then in 1415 passed to Syon Abbey, in whose hands it remained until the Dissolution. Minchinhampton Common is a large area of open grassland with spectacular views over the Stroud and Nailsworth valleys. The area is owned by National Trust and is an important archaeological landscape, with prehistoric field systems, burial mounds and the remains of a defensive earthwork, known as The Bulwarks. In the summer the Commons are grazed by local commoners' cattle. The area covers 635 acres and is renowned for its colourful array of wild flowers and butterflies. Food & Drink For a small market town, Minchinhampton is fortunate to be blessed with a number of good places to eat and drink: The Crown Inn (https://www.thecrown-minchinhampton.com/): Roaring fires, a restaurant serving up locally inspired flavours, and a cellar stocked full of craft ales, fine wines, and fizz - when it comes to Cotswold country pubs, The Crown Inn is the perfect place to meet, eat, and make great memories. The Ragged Cot (www.theraggedcot.co.uk): Perched high on the Cotswolds outside the ancient market town of Minchinhampton sits the Ragged Cot, a country inn getaway created for serious pleasure seekers. Born of a 17th century coaching house inn set beside six hundred acres of National Trust common land the Ragged Cot is a pretty special place with an intriguing history of highwaymen and pilferage. The proprietors of the Ragged Cot take pride in their professional approach to food and service, with the seasonal menu offering great British food sourced from local farmers and even their own vegetable garden. With dishes such as seared ox tongue with pickled red cabbage, pheasant with braised leeks and artichoke puree or just simply ham, eggs with triple cooked chips you will always find a dish to fit; The Kitchen (www.thekitchenminchinhampton.co.uk): Choose a seat by the beautiful bay window and watch for riders trotting by on horseback or perhaps the occasional herd of cows strolling down from the Common. Serving delicious breakfasts, morning and afternoon teas, and lunches, all the locally sourced food is prepared fresh daily; The Old Lodge, Minchinhampton Common (www.food-club.com/old-lodge.htm): The Old Lodge is beautifully located in the centre of Minchinhampton Common. With unrivalled views of the Cotswolds, this 400 year old hunting lodge is the perfect place to escape the rush. Enjoy quality, locally sourced food served in the restaurant, the bar area, one of the smaller dining rooms or al fresco in the spacious garden. A beautifully appointed, two-bedroom, two-bathroom, dog-friendly*, Georgian townhouse, with an air of French elegance, tucked in the heart of one of the Cotswolds’ most famous market towns, renowned for its royal connections and antique shops. New Church Cottage has a private, enclosed patio and secure, off-street parking for one car.
(*Dogs: 1 well-behaved dog is welcome at the cottage at an additional cost of £30. Please let us know if you will be bringing a dog and we will then revise your booking confirmation.) You’d be forgiven for missing New Church Cottage as you wander the bustling streets of Tetbury; arguably the most stylish market town in the Cotswolds, thanks to its boutique shops, designer delis and distinctly royal connections. Nestled in a terrace of classic honey-coloured Georgian townhouses just a stone’s throw from the town’s centre, New Church Cottage is distinguished by its quintessential duck-egg blue front door and pretty bay trees framing its front sash window; an elegant touch, setting the theme for the property as soon as you step inside. Walking straight into the cosy living space of the cottage, you’ll get a sense of its rich heritage, dating back to the 18th Century. An antique-surround open fire acts as the centrepiece of the room, with tasteful historic artwork, Sanderson fabrics and antique furnishings giving the room a timeless, elegant feel. Through the living room sits a small but well-formed kitchen, hand-painted and stocked with all that you’ll need during your stay, with a handy dining space tucked at the rear for comfortable dining. Up the winding staircase, lined with eye-catching Lewis & Wood wallpaper, you’ll find two bedrooms for up to four guests, each individually-designed with a twist of antique French sophistication. Bedroom two boasts a beautiful antique French double bed, complete with billowing fabric draping, plus pretty, painted antique furniture and views out onto the street beneath. Up another winding staircase (cleverly concealed behind a frosted glass door) sits the master bedroom, with show-stopping features emanating a real feeling of historic luxury. In here, guests will find a vaulted ceiling with chunky painted beams, a sparkling crystal chandelier, a sink-in French “Empire” style king-size bed and plenty of antique touches. There’s even a small but incredibly handy en-suite shower room; a great addition to the cottage’s main bathroom located just off the staircase on the first floor. With the sights and sounds of Tetbury quite literally on your doorstep at New Church Cottage, you’ll have plenty on hand to keep you entertained with a host of fantastic cafés, restaurants, shops and pubs to discover. After a busy day exploring, the cottage’s perfectly petite courtyard garden offers a welcome respite from the hubbub of the town, where guests can unwind with a sundowner or fire up the BBQ for charcoal-cooked feast. Facilities  WiFi  Bed linen, towels and tea towels  Log burner/ open fire  Charcoal BBQ  Outdoor dining area  Garden furniture  2 bedrooms  2 bathrooms (1 en-suite)  Washer/ Dryer  Fridge  Electric hob and oven  Microwave  Integrated dishwasher  TV with Freeview  iPod Dock  DVD player  Highchair x1  Travel cot  Iron and ironing board  Dog-Friendly  Shops within walking distance  Pubs/Restaurants within walking distance Local Amenities Amenities are very much on the doorstep here at New Church Cottage. Within walking distance in Tetbury town centre, you’ll find a Co-Operative Food, well-equipped for the basic grocery amenities that you’ll need during your stay. For something a little special, Highgrove Shop is also on the high street of the town, selling a selection of luxury organic foods and homeware inspired by Prince Charles’ nearby Highgrove Estate. A Tesco Superstore is also just a 10-minute stroll (or 2-minute car journey) from the cottage on London Road, with nearby Cirencester (20-minute drive) boasting a Waitrose and large Tesco Extra superstore. If you fancy taking the hassle out of your stay completely, we recommend planning ahead with a grocery delivery; Ocado, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Morrisons all deliver to New Church Cottage. Full Description Downstairs Entrance New Church Cottage is tucked in the middle of a classic Georgian terrace, just off the High Street in the historic market town of Tetbury. Entering through a classic duck-egg green front door, you’ll step straight into the cottage’s living space. Living Room A true slice of Georgian elegance with just the right balance of mod-cons, New Church Cottage’s living room manages to expertly blend classic, elegant interiors with plenty of cosy touches to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Decorated in an attractive, classic palette of Cotswold creams, in here you’ll find sisal flooring, Georgian-era artwork, antique trinkets and sink-in sofas; one of which can be converted into a sofa-bed for two should you need some extra sleeping space. The true centrepiece of the lounge is its spectacular open fire with antique surround, flanked by bookcases stocked to the brim, and the perfect way to warm up in the cooler months after a busy day in the great Cotswold outdoors. Timeless, elegant and charming in equal measure, the living space offers a real home away from home feel for guests in search of comfortable luxury. Kitchen Through the living room to the rear of the cottage sits its kitchen and dining area, a galley-style space with seating for up to four. In here, the refined feel of the rest of the property continues thanks to plenty of traditional touches, including hand-painted units, Iroko wood worktops and a deep Belfast-style sink. We love the thoughtful nods back to yester-year, with old-fashioned cookbooks, mismatched seating and clever uses of cupboard space (hidden behind hand-made fabric doors) giving the kitchen an authentic, homely vibe. Jam-packed with all of the equipment you should need to self-cater well during your stay, there’s a seating area for four, plus additional outdoor dining courtesy of a bistro-style set in the cottage’s courtyard garden. First Floor From the cottage’s living space, head up a winding staircase, lined with beautiful floral Lewis & Wood wallpaper, to discover the upper floors of this classic Georgian townhouse. Bedroom 2 Sitting on the cottage’s first floor is Bedroom 2, an homage to antique French elegance, sure to make any guest feel as though they’ve stumbled into a luxurious yet understated boudoir. Farrow & Ball-hued walls in classic grey tones give the room a feeling of relaxation, contrasted with the pinks and greys of the billowing fabric drapes which frame the large sash window’s views of the Tetbury street beneath. A painted antique French double bed sits centrally to the room, boasting a plush canopy with Manuel Canovas fabric drapes, with a wardrobe, dressing table and small dresser offering a good amount of storage. There’s even a handy television with Freeview hidden discreetly behind the bedroom’s doorway for those who like to watch a good film before getting some shut-eye. Family Bathroom Half-way up the staircase to the first floor sits the main bathroom of the cottage, complete with bath and overhead shower, bespoke marble vanity cabinet, pretty green wood panelling and attractive limestone tiles. Flooded with light thanks to a bright overhead skylight, guests will have plenty to keep them entertained during a long soak courtesy of a jam-packed bookcase; an expert use of space, sure to keep book worms happy. Second Floor Bedroom 1 (master, en-suite) Head through a frosted glass doorway on the first floor and you’ll discover New Church Cottage’s ‘hidden’ master bedroom; a spacious bedroom tucked in the eaves of the house, found atop a winding staircase. A real hidden gem, the space up here will certainly surprise you, with the owners having made the most of what would have been the attic’s impressive vaulted ceilings and beautiful exposed beams. Perfect for couples, a beautiful French “Empire” style king-size beds acts as the bedroom’s centrepiece, complete with an elegant chandelier hanging above, to give the room a luxurious feel. Guests will find a large dresser and television with Freeview in here, plus all of the refined décor touches of the rest of the home and a bright window overlooking the street beneath. Best of all, the bedroom boasts its own en-suite shower room with walk-in shower, toilet, limestone flooring and pretty LED lighting. Very handy for avoiding potentially treacherous night-time journeys down the winding stairs when nature calls! Outside A real bonus to the cottage is its compact outdoor courtyard, found through the kitchen to the rear of the property. South-east facing, it gets a good amount of sunlight, completely private thanks to the pretty Cotswold stone walls that frame it. Here, a bistro dining set for four offers plenty of opportunities for al fresco dining, made easier thanks to the charcoal BBQ at your disposal. Entirely enclosed, little ones and dogs are safe to roam here.

A period property with some original features. The front door opens onto a cosy living room which has a lovely recessed wood burning stove, 2 double sofas and a TV. Proudly perched on the side of sleepy Shortwood Road is Walkley Wood Cottage, a distinguished 19th century property with rustic golden stone that immediately casts a warm and welcoming aura. Ideally situated, this cottage is the perfect base for exploring the tranquillity of the surrounding Stroud Valleys and the wider Cotswolds, while guests are also in easy walking distance of the cheerfully eclectic town of Nailsworth. If you’re looking for somewhere to totally relax and unwind, then Walkley Wood is the perfect Cotswold home for you. As you approach the cottage through the cast iron gate and down the stone steps, you will notice a small outdoor table and chairs set down from the lane behind the dry-stone wall. Guests are welcome to sit outside and enjoy the warmth of the summer months in this compact but delightful sun trap. You may find yourself admiring the beautiful architecture and delicate Georgian windows, this cottage was, after all, built in 1852. Although the exact history of the cottage remains largely a mystery, it has been suggested that the building may have been used as a pub many years ago, which could explain the origins of the kitchen skylight. Either way, it’s nice to consider that many happy memories have been created within these historic walls! Inside, Walkley Wood really is the perfect holiday home. Devoid of fussiness and frill, Karen has struck the perfect balance between homely-cosy comfort and refreshing simplicity. Each floor is brought to life by a sprinkling of quirky vintage features, while guests can simultaneously enjoy a bright and Scandinavian-inspired minimalist feel. The living room is the real heart of the property. A log-burning stove immediately creates a wonderful cosy atmosphere, with soft blankets and cushions scattered over furniture to help guests make themselves feel at home. Just a short walk away is the artistic town of Nailsworth, a gem in the heart of the Cotswold valleys. A largely overlooked town, Nailsworth has a fantastic and unspoiled selection of boutiques, bars, pubs and cafes, and really does offer some of the best food for miles around. There’s also often live music events, so it’s always worth keeping an eye on what’s going on! Into the hallway and up the next short flight of stairs into the… Master bedroom This fabulous loft-style double bedroom boasts beautiful views from its topmost position in the cottage. With a sumptuous king size bed nestled below the original oak beams of the sloping ceiling, this room is cosy and simple, with some lovely rustic details. You will find the hair dryer in a top drawer of the chest. A curtained-off hanging area makes for a unique open-plan wardrobe, ensuring there’s enough space for you to unpack and relax, while the room retains a lovely snug feel. Outside Walkley Wood Cottage enjoys use of the small gravel/paved courtyard at the front of the house. There is a small patio table and two chairs that guests may use for breakfast, lunch or an evening glass of wine if they wish! If you are looking to stretch your legs further, there are plenty of beautiful walks and open fields surrounding Walkley Wood Cottage, just see ‘Walks’ in the Guidebook.

This apartment is brand new. It has its own entrance and the front door opens into a large open plan living room and kitchen with a large breakfast bar. There is a 55 inch smart tv and WiFi. Two double bedrooms are upstairs to sleep 4 people. The bathroom has a shower cubicle and separate bath. There is dedicated parking just outside the front door.
Tetbury is the home of HRH Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales. You will see the HighGrove shop located in the High Street which is full of items associated with the Highgrove estate. Tetbury was an important market town in the Cotswolds for wool and yarn in the Middle Ages but today it is better associated with boutique shops, antique shops and lovely coffee shops and pubs. The town is known as an ‘architectural gem’ because many of the wool merchants’ houses still look as they did years ago. St. Mary’s church has an impressive Spire that can be seen from all directions as you enter the town. The centre of Tetbury is a conservation area and many of the buildings have graded listing including the flat you will be staying in. Look up as you walk the streets and see the architecture and natural stone for which the Cotswolds are famous. There are many places of interest to visit nearby including Cirencester which is a large market town and also Cheltenham which is home to the Cheltenham race and jazz festivals. Slightly closer to Tetbury is the Westonbirt Arboretum and also Malmesbury home of the WOMAD festival. There are numerous lovely country pubs dotted around the area and also two fabulous spa venues such as Whatley Manor and Calcott Spa.

In the centre of beautiful Minchinhampton, this detached cosy cottage is open plan in design and tastefully renovated throughout with plenty of modern conveniences. Set in a quiet pretty garden, and with on site parking + Type 2 EV charger, this is a great getaway. CORVID19 means The Crown Inn is now a take away, just up the road, The Chip Shed across the street is highly recommended. Or you can cook and then relax in a comfy sofa to curl up with a book/TV/DVD, after walking the Cotswolds Way
The Coach House is a beautifully converted 16th century stables with modern open plan living embedded in a classic Cotswold cottage garden setting. We are in the centre of the charming village of Minchinhampton with its beautiful church with quirky crown capped spire and Cotswold stone as far as the eye can see. Arriving by car or train we can assist with on site parking or "Tesla taxi" service from Stroud station. After entering via a well gravelled path, with a courtyard style seating area, fine weather affords a beautiful al fresco table adjacent to your front door and looks onto the raised bed paved garden with a hammock available for watching the sun setting through the beech trees. Too breezy? you are welcome to enjoy a glass inside our conservatory, which catches the evening sun, (like the garden, this space is shared with us in the main house) .
The Old Swan Coach House is in the middle of the picturesque village of Minchinhampton. Visitors are generally delighted by the established Cotswold village feel, (this is an organically grown village, not a 2nd home centre) and its location for walks and the wider area attractions is considered a massive selling point. It is perhaps why Princess Anne chose the adjacent Gatcombe estate for her wonderful residence. Minchinhampton Common is a few minutes walk and provides a wonderful "big sky" airy clean open space for an early morning or evening walk. During the summer months it also supplies a procession of cows, some of which may occasionally wander past the house and up the high street. The common offers a wonderful, 130 years established, golf course that gives you the chance to observe skylarks, Adonis Blue butterflies, and a range of orchids on this ancient National Trust meadow land. I am a lapsed member and enjoyed the views and the natural hazards in equal measure. It is open to visitors and affords a kind of inland links course with no sand but plenty of natural hazards. https://minchinhamptonoldcourse.intelligentgolf.co.uk A visit to the common often includes sampling the delicious Winstones Ice cream that is made right there on the edge, just near the Bear of Rodborough "chicane". Nearby Stroud offers the award winning Farmer's Market every Saturday and a range of quirky "Stroudy" shops and people watching opportunities. Until November 2019 the Crown, Minchinhampton's only central pub was closed for 6 years and eating places required a drive for evening meals. Since November 8th the new owners, the Lucky Onion group, offer excellent dining and a welcoming pub. This is now a busy godsend to locals and visitors alike. Currently for the Crown, every night and lunch, and for most other restaurants within nearby range, for the busier weekends of the year, booking is mostly required. (Advice on request). Henry's Cafe and Peter and Assumpta's The Kitchen are in friendly competition for great local cafe coffee and light bites - both a very short walk from us in the high street. The Church is active and well liked, it has been recently reordered with underfloor heating and much more, and has an active bell ringing team. Practice is on Friday evenings starting at 8:00 and the Bells are quite likely to wake those sleeping in on a Sunday morning. Cheltenham racecourse being reasonably nearby, booking for Festival week (2nd week of March) needs good advance planning. Our local version of smart pricing applies. Minchinhampton is possibly most well known for the residence of Princess Anne whose annual Festival of Eventing in August https://www.festivalofbritisheventing.com/ attracts visitors from far and wide to Gatcombe. Around that time Minchinhampton hosts, longer than anywhere else, the marvellous Giffords Circus. It has been featured on the list of 50 things you must see before you die and brings crowds from miles around to the big top on the common. https://www.giffordscircus.com/ The National Trust owned Common is famous for its rare breed cows grazing from April to November and the beautiful "big sky" walks are a home to many a high flying skylark and the rare Adonis butterfly. The 130 year old Golf Club and the Old Lodge are popular spots situated in the middle of the common - all our local pubs are welcoming and worth a visit. Also visible throughout the year are gliders from the two astonishingly close local clubs, http://www.cotswoldgliding.co.uk/holiday_courses (where I learned to fly) and https://bggc.co.uk/ The views over the Cotswold edge can be stunning and the costs much lower than most imagine. (trial flights start from £95) From the Cirencester road to Minch, as you turn in to Aston Down airfield is "Jolly Nice" a fast growing organic shop and eatery that now occupies three yurts. The ice cream is superb and the speciality delicatessen has the best quality produce and fantastic gifts (at a price!) https://jollynicefarmshop.com/ Westonbirt Arboretum is a popular all year round visitor attraction just 9 miles to the south of us. Every Saturday the lively alternative scene that is Stroud Town hosts the oldest established Farmer's market, just 4 miles down in the valley. It is also a centre for every type of artist and alternative health practitioner.

The cottage is a recently refurfished Cotswold stone cottage, located in the historic town of Tetbury. A beautiful space to relax with family or friends, the cottage is a short walk from the centre of town, with pubs and restuarants in walking distance. The location is also perfect if you're attending a wedding nearby, being on the road which leads out towards Kingscote Barn and Matara Centre, with the Great Tythe barn being the other side of town.
We love having children to stay and have books, games and Netflix inside for relaxing. There are two bedrooms, the larger of the two has a big comfortable King size bed and the smaller bedroom is a cosy double which is comfortable for two. There is a log burner in the lounge which you are very welcome to use (logs not provided, though please let me know if you would like these in the cottage for your arrival and I will do my best have them ready for your stay, there will be an additional charge for these). The kitchen is well equipped for cooking and relaxing and has a dining table for 4. The bathroom features a large roll top bath (with shower over) and is perfect for a relaxing soak. There is a small lawn area to the front of the house and a large patio area to the side with a table for 4. It’s a real sun trap on a sunny day! Please note that there are stone steps up to the property. These are not especially steep but would not be accessible with a wheelchair. Please contact me if you have any questions about accessibility and I will happily describe the space.

This is a 1750's cottage on a country lane in an extraordinary location, 20 minute walk to the small town of Nailsworth, and a pastoral walk through the abundant waters & garden valley leading to Ruskin Mill Centre & Cafe (best homemade food around!)
This is a 3-storey cottage, with an overview from kitchen and sitting room of tall trees and luscious green hillside The close proximity of Ruskin Mill Trust (see below) puts us in the heart of all that inspired the vision for young lives, land and waterways.
For instance(!) I pop into the village health shop on my birthday and they donate me fresh cream to celebrate, I return to the cottage and someone else has left the corresponding perfect apple pie. In short, heartfelt neighbours living their joy, painting, making music, planting veggies & flowers, circle singing and dancing and rambling walks. Ruskin Mill Trust has transformed this Valley over the course of nearly 50 years. It is a truly delightful and beneficial presence in this Community. My now-grown children were inspired by Ruskin Mill classes as part of their core curriculum in college (and Alisdair, one of the founder's sons -see below- was their college principal!). A little history - "The seeds of Ruskin Mill (Educational) Trust were sown in 1967, when Robin and Barbara Gordon transplanted their young sons Aonghus and Alasdair from the hothouse of the Ruskin Centre for Art Appreciation in Venice to the cold-frame of a dilapidated former textile mill in Gloucestershire. They had fallen into fertile soil. Within the steep, wooded valleys of the Severn escarpment, a thousand years of the wool trade had bequeathed Horsley and Nailsworth a built environment of exceptional quality, a pioneering spirit and a keen pride in design and craftsmanship. Over the next fifteen years, they were energised by the inspirations of three men whose visions had helped shape the lives of the Gordon family: Rudolf Steiner, John Ruskin and William Morris. By 1984, they had germinated into the Ruskin Mill Centre for Arts and Cultural Regeneration. In that year, pupils from nearby Cotswold Chine Special School helped restore the mill's water-wheel. The next year, two more joined what was soon to become the Living Earth Training Course. The Living Earth Course combined biodynamic agriculture in a market garden with the craft curriculum sourced from the Arts and Crafts movement, the insights into human development provided by Rudolf Steiner and a commitment to responsible stewardship of the land for future generations. This curriculum, the so-called Descent into Matter, accessed the four elements of Earth, Water, Air and Fire through the three Kingdoms of Nature: - Animal - leatherwork, felt-making and weaving - Plant - basketry, carving and green woodwork - Mineral - pottery, stone carving, stained glass and metalwork Students boarded with local families, and received additional support through anthroposophic medicine and associated therapies. Crucially, students were constantly immersed in the commercial activities of the Mill: the small craft workshops, cafe and other retail outlets. This braiding of practical education, home-making, commerce and environmental awareness gave them the unique therapeutic experience of transforming their environment into useful commodities, for exchange within the market economy. This vision has remained at the heart of the Trust's work ever since." Ruskin Mill Trust says: "This is how we want our world to be: Each individual experiences meaningful relationships with universe, earth and people and has the potential to shape their own future."

Wake to the dawn chorus, walk through the woods to explore the open countryside or local artisan shops and inns, return to your own private spring fed wood-fired hot tub and fall asleep to the sounds of wind rustling the trees with the only tweets coming from the owls. Perfect location to self-isolate - we will collect a shopping order for you and deliver to your porch, so you just relax and chill !
Come and self-isolate! The hut is tucked away in a private meadow at the back of our property behind a quiet cul-de-sac. A path to a gate provides direct access into open countryside including a valley, woodland and trim trail perfect for exercising, walking and cycling. The Hut has all the creature comforts of home including a wood burning stove, kitchen basics for those hearty cooked breakfasts and your own private luxury bathroom a short walk away. The hot tub package comes with your stay and we empty, disinfect, fill it with fresh Cotswold spring water, light the wood burner and bring it up to temperature ready for you to indulge under the stars, safe in the knowledge it is freshly made just for you. If you need it for more than one night then you can purchase more logs and keep it going for as long as you want. In addition to our regular robust cleaning procedures we have rolled up our sleeves and implemented enhanced levels of hygiene standards appropriate to the latest guidance throughout the hut and bathroom. All linen is boiled washed and high temperature ironed.
We are tucked away in a quiet spot at the back of a new small cul-de-sac. We over-look rolling countryside and woodland on the edge of Tetbury a beautiful and traditional Cotswold Market Town with wonderful places to eat and plenty to see and do. Westonbirt Arboretum is a short drive or steady bike ride away and well worth a visit at any time of year. Breakfast at the Whistle Stop Cafe (a 10 minute stroll) is the perfect way to start the day.
