Penrith is the ‘heart of the Lake District’ and a good place to start discovering this wonderful area. We are only minutes from M6 junction 40. We welcome cyclists and walkers. It offers 3 bedrooms in the main house and is within walking distance of 2 local pubs and train station and has its own private car park for guests. Also 2 dog friendly micro lodges/pods are available which are located in the walled garden area next to the main house, both with private terrace. Pods are en-suite and equipped with TV, fridge/freezer, microwave and coffee/tea making facilities.

Set on the Dales Way, in the heart of the Lake District National Park lies Cragg House Farm. This working family farm now doubles up as a luxurious 2 room B&B. Run by Liz, alongside my husband Edward who manages the farm. Cragg House over looks acres of land occupied by livestock and panoramic views of the fells. The tranquil farm is only two miles outside of Bowness-on-Windermere. There are great local pubs and eateries and walks. There is even a golf course less than half a mile away.

The house is situated on a quiet cul de sac in Kendal, a 10/15 min walk from the mainline train station, Oxenholme Station, and a 20-25 minute walk into town. The bedroom is on the ground floor with an ensuite private shower room. We are close to the hospital, ideal if need somewhere to stay if you are working there for a week or two. Breakfast is provided for you in the utility room, you are welcome to use our dining room.

Lovely Lake District rural retreat

My home is on a small, Lakeland farm set up on a hillside with wonderful views down to the Duddon estuary. You could be woken by the song of a blackbird or robin or the cockerel; otherwise, it's a wonderfully quiet, peaceful spot. The hens and cats hang out in the yard, various sheep breeds, four ponies, and a scattering of cows populate the fields, and beyond that a gate opens onto the hills.

A snug cottage bedroom at Larriston Farm - a mid 19th century farm steading around a cobbled courtyard. We're in a very rural setting, 20-25 minutes' drive from Kielder Water, the observatory and also Newcastleton. Dogs welcome.
