As I traveled around the world visiting over 100 hostels, I found that small hostels could be enjoyable too. I hope to invite travelers around the world, and they gather together, enjoy stories, relax as friends under a common roof, and above all, sleep well ! My goal is to provide the most comfortable and friendly hostel accommodations in Japan.

SARUYA - Twin Room #8 in Modern Traditional Hostel

Our private room features 1 or 2 futon beds on traditional tatami floors. The shared areas include bathrooms, dining space and a work/lounge/library area. The hostel Saruya Hostel opened in 2015 in Fujiyoshida, a city at the bottom of Mt Fuji. We renovated an 80 years old wooden house to create a place that allows our guests to experience time and space through carefully selected art, design and objects, mixing traditional Japanese inspiration with modern aesthetics.

Irori guesthouse -Tenmaku- It is opened in 2018 after spending 7month for renovation of an old Japanese ryokan. You can enjoy "Irori" which is Japanese traditional fire pit, in our common space.
