Everglades National park: Many walking trails through the famous National Park and World Heritage site that represent the many ecosystems found in South Florida. One of the few places you can see the American alligator and crocodile together. Great for bird watching, photography, and star gazing.

One of the few neighborhoods that you can can walk from bar to bar. One downfall is that public transit doesn't quite yet get you there, and you don't want to walk from the transit line to here. If you're willing to catch a Lyft/Uber (which are very very affordable in Miami), then it's a definite neighborhood to check out

It's a drive (3 hours), but if you're staying for more than a few days, it's an investment. Once there, you can ditch the car and enjoy small island life by foot, moped, gulf cart or bicycle. While Key west is fun, the real beauty of the Keys lies in the islands before Key West: National Key Deer Refuge on Big Pine Key and other nearby islands have endangered miniature key deer and rare plants, butterflies, and birds. Islamorado and Marathon are closer islands with a more laid back yet fun vibe.
