There are many reasons to visit Elan Valley. Part of the rugged Cambrian Mountains, Elan is a beautiful and unspoilt area made even more compelling by the dams and reservoirs which together create a wonderful, living landscape. The views are stunning and you are never far away from points of interest.

The Hafren Forest takes its name from the River Severn, the Afon Hafren in Welsh, which takes its rise about a mile from the western boundary of the forest, high up on the slopes of Pumlumon, the highest mountain in Mid Wales. Also the source of the River Wye. Excellent scenery and interesting forest walks.

Petrified Forest . The storms of 2014 uncovered 4-miles of ancient woodland stretching between Tywyn and Aberdyfi that had previously been submerged beneath the sand and shingle. Only viewable at low tide!

Medieval castle rising dramatically above the celebrated garden. As part of WWi commemorations, between 1st March and 30th September 2016, the cellars have been transformed with a recreation of the battle of the Somme trench and officers dugout.
