If you want a good hot chocolate, go to the people who specialise in making it! Also a good place to buy some hand-crafted chocolate for yourself or to give as a gift - they even do haggis-spice chocolate! And for warm days, they sell delicious ice cream.

It's a relatively quiet spot a short walk away from the busy centre of the city. There's the Old Observatory, Nelson's monument, and the ill-fated National Monument (an unfinished replica of the Parthenon in Athens!). Also on Calton Hill are the old Royal High School, masterpiece of Georgian architecture, and the monument to Robert Burns.
