Taxis and Uber and the local Bus.

We use Uber on a regular basis. Tip the drivers. The taxis are good as well. Plan on having small bills. 100 peso notes are best to get change. Try to call a loca Taxi company such as San Miguelitois good. You wil pay a bit more when you call for a taxi but they are dependble and reliable. Do not be reluctant to take the Primera Plus bus service for trips to other cities. Clean, safe, air conditioned. A great way to travel to Guanajuato City, Queretero, Guadalajara, Mexico City. The local bus is 8 pesos. Easy to get around and see the city. Very interesting.
O que levar

Comfy shoes, bring a jacket or wrap for cooler nights.

Travel light, wear layers and wraps as it gets cool at night. Cold in the Winter at night. San Miguel tends to be a conservative city, avoid wearing shorts or super revealing attire in the city. People tend to dress in a somewhat creative and fashionable style. Lots of lovely scarves and wraps to be purchased from the local vendors.

Change money locally. Be mindful of the exchange rate.

Get a no fee credit card that does not charge you for a foreign transaction. We like Charles Schwab. Be mindful of bank hours and policies. Be prepared to show a passport when changing money. Break down your large bills to make getting change easier. Use your 10 peso coins.
Costumes e cultura

Be polite to the locals.

The local people are very welcoming to tourists. They are proud of their city. Ask before you take someone's photo, especially be careful of photos of their children. It is considered rude. Avoid talking politics. Don’t expect the locals to discuss the Cartels or El Chapo....Dont be that person. Don't yell for the waiter or server. Tip generously.
