Zvërnec, together with nearby Nartë, is a Greek-speaking pocket in the area north of Vlorë. There are speakers of Aromanian also present in Zvërnec. The surrounding region is full of salt marshes. Narta Lagoon, which hosts a unique ecosystem, lies north of the village. Near the village lies the island that bears the same name, and the Byzantine St. Mary's Monastery dedicated to Virgin Mary. To the east of the settlement there is a lighthouse.

Kuzum Baba is a natural terrace carved out by the sea, located on a hill above the city of Vlore. It takes its name from Sejjid Ali Sulltan, known as Father Kuzum (Quzum Baba), a Bektashi spiritual leader, who according to local tradition, is buried here. Being the highest point of the city, somewhere at 30 m from the sea level, Kuzum Baba offers visitors the chance to enjoy the fresh air and to admire beautiful city landscapes.

It is home to a vast array of landforms, including mountains, caves, islands, depressions, bays, cliffs, canyons and rocky coasts, all contributing to an exceptionally considerable biological diversity. The marine park has been identified as an Important Bird and Plant Area, because it supports immense bird and plant species. Containing ecosystems and habitats that are specific to the Mediterranean Basin, the convention of Barcelona has classified the marine park as a Specially Protected Areas of Mediterranean Importance.
