This is a good pick if you're hanging out in downtown Boone. They don't have the outdoor space of the other two breweries but their wood-fired pizza makes up for that. Plus they recently added a rooftop deck.

If you're more time-limited, stick to Grandfather Vineyard. Local tip - Pick up a bottle of wine and a Christmas Tree. Where else can you do that?!

Hike to Calloway Peak via DBS & Cragway Trails for a half-day rigorous adventure of 7 miles. Continue on about 4 miles to the Grandfather Swinging Bridge and bypass the $20 admission fee. This hike is very difficult but if you're looking for a rewarding workout, this is it. Pro-tip: On your way to the peak there is a crashed airplane from the 80's, largely intact. Look closely and you may see it.
