Santa Fe Plaza and Downtown

Radiating from the four-centuries-old Palace of the Governors, the most historic area of the city is completely walkable, with quaint winding streets featuring charming boutiques, restaurants, bookstores and art galleries tucked into every block. Aspects of the past remain in the look and feel of the traditional Spanish Plaza, including a certain flavor of the Old West and the time-honored tradition whereby local Native artisans sell their amazing creations beneath the portal of the Palace of the Governors. Downtown hotels are convenient to everything including fabulous restaurants, worldclass museums and shopping.
We absolutely love The Shed, they have amazing blue corn enchiladas. We usually order them with an over medium egg on top with both green and red chile on top. The margaritas are delicious as well. They only take walk ins and they’re usually busy so we recommend that you pop in, put your name down and walk the plaza until they call you. Pro Tip: (If you want to sound like a local, say that you want “Christmas” when they ask if you want red or green chile, this means that you want both.

It is the mother church of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. The cathedral was built by Archbishop Jean Baptiste Lamy between 1869 and 1886 on the site of an older adobe church, La Parroquia (built in 1714–1717). An older church on the same site, built in 1626, was destroyed in the 1680 Pueblo Revolt.

One of our favorite restaurants! This place is just a few blocks from every thing you wish to visit. The customer is exceptional, there is usually a wait but no more than 10-15 min. They close at 2. Our favorite here is the brisket.

Loretto Chapel is best known for its "miraculous" spiral staircase, which rises 20 feet (6.1 m) to the choir loft while making two full turns, all without the support of a newel or central pole. The staircase is built mostly out of wood and is held together by wooden pegs and glue rather than nails or other hardware.
