Its a 2.5 hour ferry trip but it can be done in a day, catch the first ferry over and last back. Beautiful scenery an exquisite bakery and many little shops along the way. No fee to go over pay when returning. You should book your crossing ahead of time.

Deer island is a very nice drive with several little fishing villages along the way. The ferry is free and runs every half hour, no bookings needed. Nice little trip.
