San Felipe del Morro is a still standing Spanish fortress at the entrance of the San Juan Bay of Puerto Rico. Built by the Spaniards at the beginning of their discovery and conquest of the new world is the oldest spanish construction in America, already more than 500 years old. It is an impressive fort, with walls more than 5 feet thick, tunnels that connect all the area and canons pointing to the sea. Around the fort, the old city of San Juan is a miniature replica of ancient Spanish cities . Walking down its streets paved with adoquines and surrounded by its beautiful houses, and then dinning in its delicious restaurants, is a great experience. There are so many stories and legends in that gorgeous city that you will always treasure the visit.

Visitors to the Capitol can make a reservation for a guided tour. The history of the Capitol building began on February 7, 1907, when Don Luis Munoz Rivera, an important figure of the political history of Puerto Rico and legislator at the time, introduced House Bill 84 to the House of Delegates. Although the bill was passed and a neoclassical design had been chosen, the construction of the Capitol encountered several fiscal, economic and political difficulties which resulted in the work being suspended twice. Despite all difficulties encountered throughout the years, the Capitol building was finally inaugurated on February 11, 1929. On June 30, 1977, the Capitol of Puerto Rico was designated a Historic Landmark and on November 18, 1977, it was listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places.

What most people know as “Isla Verde Beach” is actually 3 beaches: El Alambique, Pine Grove Beach, and Balneario de Carolina. Isla Verde Beach is located east of San Juan in the neighboring town/ municipality of Carolina, just north of Isla Verde Avenue and Route 187, and in the district of Isla Verde. All three beaches give visitors nearly three long miles of sand and water to enjoy. So even on a really busy beach day, it doesn’t feel crowded! The best access to these great beaches is by staying at one of the beachfront hotels and resorts. If you stay at one of the hotels a few blocks back, there are many beach-access walkways from the main street – Avenida Isla Verde.

Ocean Park is an upscale, beachfront community within the barrio of Santurce in the municipality of San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is one of the forty sub-barrios of Santurce. Ocean Park is located between Condado and Isla Verde beaches making it an essential tranquil, tree-lined street residential neighborhood, with numerous examples of single-family homes from the decades between 1930 and 1950. Small bed-and-breakfast inns, which blend in with the residential community, dot the area. Its wide oceanfront and offshore reefs prevent large waves from reaching the beach, which is popular with trendy beachgoers. Strong seasonal onshore trade winds make the area popular for kitesurfing and windsurfing.

Transporte

Uber

If you are not sure you want to rent a car the location is great. No need to rent a car unless you want or need to drive. There is a Charlie Car Rental a few blocks from the building at 1275 Ashford Avenue. I recommend to my guests to rent a car after staying the first or two days in the area. Taxi from the Luis Munoz Marin International Airport cost of $30.00, my change depending on gas price. For tourist tours is a Marriott hotel across the street from the building, offers a lot around the Island and local. Including lunch, dinner, pick up and drop off. Uber is another way to go.
