When I’m town, a number of our friends and family require a stop at Larry’s for some awesome hot dogs and ice cream! They also usually have a $1 ice cream special on the weekends and weenie Wednesday offers hot dogs for $1.

Lake Hope Lodge is in Lake Hope State Park. The lodge has a wonderful restaurant with beautiful views of the lake, and excellent American/BBQ cooking. It is about a 40 minute drive from us.

This is our favorite local pizza joint! Lots of cool options and they do deliver to our guest house! Try the basil-pesto dipping sauce! Yum! They also do take-out.

Most of our grocery shopping is on East State: Walmart, Aldi, and Kroger. There are also a number of restaurants: Qdoba, Texas Roadhouse, Shade (American), Sol, Steak n Shake, and a number of fast food places.

Court Street is what we locals call, “up-town”. There are a number of restaurants like Chipotle, Jimmy John’s, Firdous Express (Greek food), and Bubbles Tea Company. Also, there are a ton of bars. Broneys is a great option.

These are available in the area but on busy weekends, it often takes a good amount of time to get a ride. You can set up a ride ahead of time on Lyft.

Bike Paths
There is a great bike path that goes through Athens, along the Hocking River and Ohio University Campus. Good for bikes or walking. There are a number of access points like the Community Center, further down on East State Street by Dirty Dawg Car Wash, and the Convo on Campus.
