We love visiting here! You’ve got truly beautiful views in the winter months here when the ground is covered in snow and the lake is iced over. In the greener months, the hike is absolutely gorgeous. It’s mostly flat and is a few miles round trip, though there are multiple avenues to get to the lake.
Take some bread or crackers with you! The birds at the lake will eat out of the palm of your hand!

Trillium Lake

We highly recommend making time for Wildwood. We have young girls and they absolutely can do this “hike.” The walks in the forest really give you the ‘being one with nature’ aspect plus you can find your way to the Sandy river- A great spot for picnics. If you visit when the salmon are running, you’ll also have front row seats to the spawning in their under ground viewing area!

Wildwood Recreation Site
65670 US-26We highly recommend making time for Wildwood. We have young girls and they absolutely can do this “hike.” The walks in the forest really give you the ‘being one with nature’ aspect plus you can find your way to the Sandy river- A great spot for picnics. If you visit when the salmon are running, you’ll also have front row seats to the spawning in their under ground viewing area!
Not a very long hike but very challenging. The trail is steep but the views are worth it.

This is a pretty unique hiking experience, not recommend for children. It has some strong elevation climbs and narrow pathways... it has a cool lookout at the end! It’s about 7 miles and can be done in a few hours!

A little challenging but not hard. It’s not for those scared of hikes or narrow pathways. The hike is not too inclined but instead elevates pretty smoothly. It ends at a punch bull waterfall! You’ll spend 3-4 hours on this hike.
