Sightseeing

Porthdinllaen is a much-photographed coastal settlement with quaint houses and a waterfront inn. Ty Coch Inn is voted one of the best beach pubs in Wales! Porthdinllaen also hosts a headland golf course that is not for the faint hearted, set high on the sea cliffs of the narrow peninsula. The sea laps the shore on three sides on some of the greens, and there are spectacular view overlooking Porthdinllaen bay. Follow the path around the bay to the Porthdinllaen Lifeboat Station, which is home to a Tamar class all-weather lifeboat. You can visit the station or watch them train on Wednesday evenings.

It's great beaches, clear waters and sheltered harbour have made it a sailing/watersports centre. The village has a number of good restaurants and family friendly pubs as well as up-market boutiques and shops. Abersoch is home to the annual Jazz Festival attracting artists and fans from all over the world. In July Abersoch hosts Wakestock, an annual three-day mix of wake-boarding competitions and popular music.

A charming little seaside village with a superb sheltered sandy beach, and possibly the most famous (certainly the most photogenic) line of beach huts in Wales. Llanbedrog is also home to Wales’ oldest gallery, Oriel Plas Glyn-y-Weddw, a magnificent Grade II Listed Victorian Gothic Mansion, which overlooks Cardigan Bay and the mountains of Snowdonia. Well located for an abundant choice of walks with spectacular views.

Aberdaron was the last place of rest and refreshment for pilgrims before their final journey across to Bardsey Island through the treacherous waters of Bardsey Sound – Swnt Enlli. Today Aberdaron is a small fishing village and part of the National Nature Reserve. Take a walk around the Mynydd Mawr headland which provides amazing coastal views. Or alternatively take a boat trip to Bardsey Island (where allegedly 20000 saints are buried) and the ruins of St Mary’s Abbey. The sea crossing will be dependant on good weather but seals, dolphins and a variety of seabirds are very likely to be seen on the short crossing from Aberdaron. A lovely, open beach, with good quality sand and mostly body boarding style waves. There is some excellent rock pooling to be had amongst the rocky fringes of the beach.

Porth Neigwl, also known as Hell’s Mouth. An impressive sweep of sand that runs between twin headlands; Mynydd Penaryfynydd and Cilan. The beach consists of pebbles and sand, it can offer good waves, but beware of strong undertows and cross currents do occur here.
