Blue Ginger is a local hot spot for Asian Fusion type meals. The dishes are absolute quality. Dine in or take away - your taste buds will thank you for it. This place isn't cheap but you get what you pay for! Note no alcohol license.

Lukes Kitchen is at Kuautunu Beach which is 15minutes drive over the hill (North). This place has some good vibes and often live music. They serve wood fired pizza and plenty of drink choices. I recommend trying the locally brewed beers. Sit back and enjoy the views.

New Chums Beach is absolutely stunning!. The natural Beauti and white sandy beach! A light hike with a romantic picinc for two!. It is only accessible by a 25minute walk from the North end of Whangapoua Beach. Try and time it on a lower tide. Whangapoua Beach and New Chums Beach's are a 'must get to' - it is about a 40minute drive from Whitianga. If you have the time - drop by Kuaotunu's General Store on the way back for an Ice Cream (bit of a Kiwi tradition) and by the way just get a small one as they are HUGE!!!.
For a local restaurant in Kuaotunu with tasty pizzas.. stop at Lukes Kitchen and try the locally Brewed Beer - it's a real treat.
If you haven't seen enough - Keep driving out to Otama Beach and onto Opito Bay. Give yourself an hour and a gravelly drive by you will stumble upon a very special coastline and views.

Hot Water Beach is a great spot. Its puzzling why the warm water comes up through the sand in only this spot. Thermal activity. A great way to spend an afternoon. Ensure you plan this adventure on a low tide!. We have provided a spade so get sculpting that hot water beach spa pool. Enjoy.
Note this place can get crowded at times. Sorry.

This place is our family Favorite. Always very quiet!. Just a stunning beach with crystal clear water and white sand. Just head out to Kuaotunu and continue out along the peninsular.
Hint: park up down the south end of the beach - it's so beautiful!.

What a site! Book a tour boat from Whitianga or Hahei. It really is a must see while you are here. Cathedral Cove - a natural wonder.

Keen for a walk, run or hike? Take the Ferry (1 minute ride) across to ferry landing. A few options on the trails to take but if you follow the path you will get to Front beach, Flaxmill Bay and Shakespare cliffs. If you are seeking adventure and something special keep going to Lonely Bay. The Lonely bay walk is one of our favorite walks to do. We often stop at 'Eggcentric' on that way home for the caffeine hit.
