The Kindness Cafe is great and a superb contribution to society as run by The Basement Recovery Project (check it out on Google if you have a sec) – I can’t guarantee it will be open as it can be a bit sporadic but worth checking out.

Great for kids

Eureka in Halifax - The National Children's Museum is amazing! It’s an interactive educational museum for children, with a focus on learning through play. Super fun and our little ones absolutely love it – just 20 mins away on the train.

Centre Vale Park in Todmorden is sizeable, stunning and lots of fun. It’s quite the magnet for all youngsters. Many friendships are born here. It has a mini-cycle track with street signs and markings for balance/pedal bikes and scooters, sports centre with pool, skate park and playground! There is an ice cream van by the playground pretty much all year round and the Park End Café is just over the road. This is not the best café for service or quality but does the job.

The grave of the famous poet and writer Sylvia Path can be found in Heptonstall church, this is a beautiful little village and the church is spectacular, particularly on a sunny day. There are a couple of pubs in Heptonstall which are nice to chill out in. Locals and visitors mix very well here. We noted that the one further up had some questionable art hanging from a local artist :) there is a children's playground a short walk out of the town. It has the best views of any playground we have visited. :)

Piece Hall in Halifax is amazing! Dating from 1779, when it was built as a Cloth Hall for the trading of ‘pieces’ of cloth, it is now host to history exhibits, music events, independent boutique shops, bars & restaurants. Well worth a visit!
