Touristy, but still a local favorite beach. Bikini-clad beach cocktail servers, fun bar, surprisingly good food and clean facilities. The roller coaster ride from town is a blast!

Adventure time! Take a safari to Crown Bay Pier. Ask a local where Tickle's Pub is and take the little red ferry there to Water Island. Honeymoon Beach is the last of our 60's hippie beaches...go there before they build the planned resort!

You saw John Brewers Bay out of the left side of your plane just before landing. It's that pristine, unspoiled beach dotted with a few sailboats just to the runway's left. Quiet local's beach. Look for the remains of the old wood pier for some great snorkeling. Take a dollar safari taxi to the University where it's just across the street.

Lovely tiny town park right next to the historic Emancipation Garden Post Office built to commemorate the freeing of enslaved African people in 1848 by Danish Governor Peter von Scholten. "All unfree in the Danish West Indies are, from this day, free." (You have to dig deeper into our local history to find out the real reason for his sudden proclamation:).

A really great room at The Marriott Frenchman's Reef. Go there while the sun is still up for a front row seat to watch the cruise ships leave the harbor. Always a visitor favorite!

Go there for a good breakfast and watch locals scurrying about trying to get to work not too late. In the meantime, you'll be relaxing and waiting for the 10:00am ferry to St.John where it comes in just across the street.

Great lunch bargain! Beautiful setting right in Palm Passage with good Spanish/Caribbean fare. Try the Mariscos Zarzuela and wash it down with the house sangria!

Arguably the best restaurant on the island and definitely my favorite room. On the water's edge in nearby Frenchtown, this former 1920's Russian consulate looks like it's right out of a old Graham Greene spy novel.

Located right in front of our main cruise ship dock in nearby Havensite. Go there not only for a really good (and cheap!) burger and live bands, but also to be able to get as close as you possibly can to the new majestic Oasis class mega cruise ships.

Local foodie favorite! Located in our newest marina, Yacht Haven Grande, this stylish restaurant features a very modern, localized menu, an interesting cocktail list and attentive service. Sit outside on the waterfront deck and pretend that the mega yacht docked just in front of you...is yours!

Located a few minutes walk from the apartment in Royal Dane Mall this stylish little restaurant is a local's (and my guests) favorite. Go there in the morning for a properly made cappuccino and delicious breakfast sandwiches. Go there later for a nice selection of very reasonably priced pasta selection!

Located just down the street from the apartment on Back Street. This is another favorite of mine and my guests for breakfast and lunch. A non-profit run by the historic Dutch Reformed Church (next door) to assist and train at-risk youths to prepare for a career in the hospitality business. The volunteer chefs have a wealth of local experience to pass on and you benefit by the modestly priced fare that they produce!

Shopping

Daily farmer's market about a five minute walk from the apartment. Saturday is the big day for fish you never heard of, weird spiky fruit, odd looking vegetables and ladies selling traditional plantation era dishes. Delicious!

Located right in front of Emancipation Garden Park, go here to buy inexpensive souvenirs to take back home. We call it Thieves Market so, dust off your bargaining skills. See who can find the tackiest souvenir!

Drinks & Nightlife

Tiny bistro/wine bar tucked away in Frenchtown. Dimly lit, dark wood, interesting daily specials, creative menu and great service. Sometimes the owner or chef will parade through the restaurant a just caught giant Mahi-Mahi or Wahoo from the fish house next door. Order another glass of wine and wait patiently for the chef to tell his wait staff how he's preparing it!

Sightseeing

Situated high up on a ridge overlooking famous Magen's Bay, this is the perfect spot to take selfies and little vids to send to your jealous friends back home. Named for the infamous English privateer, Sir Frances Drake who was commissioned by Queen Elizabeth 1 to roam, pillage and plunder unsuspecting ships in the Atlantic waters below that we now call "Drake's Passage". Don't believe the rumors that there is buried looted treasure somewhere close to where you'll be taking selfies:)!
