It has a spectacular Sunday market that fills the streets; the rest of the week it’s quiet but a beautiful town to explore. If you’re visiting Issigeac then be sure to drop into the glassblowers (Souffleur du verre) on the way out of the town. You can see his workshop and buy a number of items. The spotty glasses and jug in the house are all from his shop!

Another place 40-minute drive away for swimming. We've not visited but this review might be helpful! There is a fairly small swimming area, but attended by lifeguards so very safe. The current is strong and is like being in your own outdoor rapid of water, great fun for the teenage kids. The rest of the park is good for skateboarding, kids play areas and plenty of spots in the shade for picnics. It is also good to cycle through and around.

We have not visited this lake but you might find this review we found useful: The lake it's self is very shallow until you go under the barrier where it deepens and you can then swim to the diving platform (you would have to be a confident swimmer to do this). There is a slide into the lake that opens at 2pm when the life guards start patrolling and pedalos to hire. There is also a play area, picnic tables, snack bar, toilets (bring your own loo roll) and BBQs. There is a lovely view across the lake to a pretty village.
