Here are some local picks, with options for your budget and preference
Absolutely fantastic Italian. Not exactly a cheap option but it's always a treat and two courses with wine and coffee can be had for under GBP £40. It's been here for about six years now and never fails to disappoint. My favourite local restaurant.

A strange mix of fish shop (it has a good, fresh, and sometimes reasonably extensive wet fish counter) and cosy restaurant. It's 'bijoux' (small) but you can lose a surprising amount of time in there sampling various wines and eating a range of uncooked fresh fish. Ceviche, fruits de mer and smoked fish all definitely recommended. This place is a gem.

It's a great pub and a fantastic restaurant specialising in delicious smoked meats and roasts and craft beers and incredibly good desserts. And the Kimchi burger is the best burger I've had in London. Fact.

Amazingly different Thai place. You'll probably need to book but it's well worth it.

Eat in or takeaway. It's a local favourite for fish and chips (although the chips are too chunky for my tastes)

Drinks & Nightlife
It's a slinky funky boozer with rock and roll connections and an old fashioned 45 jukebox with warped singles that nobody seems to mind because it's getting raucous and everyone is a little bit drank.

Parks & Nature
Goats and an aviary. A little lake and a big house. Rose garden; skatepark; big playground for kids and opposite the Rose and Crown for grown ups. Under the Spire of the Stoke Newington church and in the distance overlooked by the victorian folly climbing castle. You can picnic but you can't barbeque. It's a lovely park.

Shopping
Just stick your head into the cheese room and breathe it in! Love this shop (and apparently the coffee is great too)

Essentials
Londis
27 Burdett RdIt's a local shop. Nothing special
A lot of grains, oils, spices, granolas and pulses. Useful also for kitchen and bathroom stuff... a nice, handy, inexpensive store for stocking up on some unexpected health food while you're there.
