Craft distilling is a rich Steinhart family tradition over 300 years in the making. Thomas Steinhart still remembers coming of age in rural Germany, where he spent many happy hours helping his grandfather stoke the woodfired still. Though the fire has long since extinguished and the family farm has been sold, the joy of using natural ingredients to craft superb spirits is still ablaze in Thomas’ memory.
Thomas Steinhart is a bold personality, with a flair for rebellion and living life on his own terms. Now, after travelling the world for work, Thomas is ready to settle down on his farm in Antigonish, NS, and revive his family’s heritage by launching Steinhart Distillery.

Sightseeing
A 4-km (2.5-mi) return hike along an estuary of Antigonish Harbour, on the outskirts of town. 2 elevated platforms offer an unobstructed view of osprey, eagles & ducks in the wildlife sanctuary.

Arisaig Provincial Park is best known as a fossil destination for geology buffs. Some fossils are easily visible in the rock, while others can be discovered during a search. However, the park has much more to offer like a beautiful sandy beach, a 1.6 kilometer hiking trail, and some great views overlooking the Northumberland Shore.
Arisaig Provincial Park adventures, and activities most enjoyed include hiking, sightseeing, picnicking, swimming, beachcombing, camping, fossil digging (but you cannot take them) and snowshoeing and skiing.

Visit the Ballantyne’s Cove Tuna Interpretive Centre to learn more about tuna. The centre’s interpretive panels explore the life cycle of tuna and the history of tuna fishing. The centre also provides a video for viewing, as well as a life-size tuna model. Before leaving, be sure to check out the 19th century Fresnel Lamp, a replica of the lamp once belonging to Cape George Point Lighthouse.

The centre’s interpretive panels explore the life cycle of tuna and the history of tuna fishing. The centre also provides a video for viewing, as well as a life-size tuna model. Recreational park
Located on the eastern end of Main Street, Columbus Field is not only the main venue for The Highland Games and many other events in Antigonish, it is a year round recreational spot for the town. Walking trails, a fully equipped playground with waterpark, a track for walking (or running!), quiet trails through the woods and courts for tennis round out this wonderful attraction.
Located just a minute from our accommodation, Columbus Field is the perfect place for you to relax or help the kids burn off some energy after a day in the car!
