Local Skiing

Sugarbush is one of the biggest resorts in VT and has two mountains: Lincoln Peak and Mount Ellen. Lincoln Peak has all the amenities one could seek at a mountain and Mount Ellen has the old-school mellow Mad River Valley vibe in their throwback lodge and no lift lines. Fun fact: Mt Abe behind the River House is the peak just to the south of Lincoln Peak, so on the other side of the ridge is where you'll ski and ride at Sugarbush!

A co-operatively run mountain with nearly all natural snow, and one of the only single chairs left in the world. The skiing here is rugged, challenging, and downright rewarding. The old school lifts means there is still plenty of snow on the trails and the lodge feels like you're hanging out with your friends from a bygone era. General Stark's Lodge often has great local music and the food and beer are so reasonably priced, you may stay longer than you intended.

If you are looking to check out a mountain outside of the Mad River Valley, Killington is about an hour and 15 minutes south. The River House is a great location to stay between Killington, Sugarbush, Stowe, etc if you are hoping to do some mountain-hopping!

Great Local Bars

Great spectrum of environments from loud nights of the local bands to an easier time of the cheers style bar hang. They make you feel at home :) Great service and food! Note that they are open Tues-Friday only.

Local Shops (Groceries, Produce, Prepared Foods)

It is the quintessential Vermont country store less than a mile down the road! They bake the most wonderful baked goods (if you're lucky enough to get some before they sell out) and all the staples: beer, seltzer, snacks, sandwiches from the deli, frozen foods, eggs, milk, butter, cheese, etc. There's also a gift shop with fun things for kids and Vermont-made products.
