Subways are the easiest/most affordable way to get around

Transportation: oWe recommend you download the NYC Subway map app on your phone as it will come in handy ☺ o1 train (red line): at 157th and Broadway. 3-minute walk from the apartment. This train runs along Broadway all throughout Manhattan. You can take it to Upper West Side, Columbus Circle, Times Square, Hell’s Kitchen, West Village, or all the way downtown. oC train (blue line): at 155th street and St. Nicholas Avenue. 10-minute walk from the apartment. This train takes you up to Inwood (the upper most part of Manhattan, runs along Central Park West, Columbus Circle, Times Square, and then along 8th avenue and down to Brooklyn and the Rockaways. oHow to get to the airports by public transportation: •LaGuardia – take the 1 train at 157th Street to 116th Street and Broadway. Then, take the M60 bus at the 116th street bus station using your metro card. It will take you all the way to LaGuardia. At least 1 ½ hours commute time from apartment. •JFK – take the 1 train at 157th Street to 42nd Street Times Square (20 mins) and transfer to the E train 12 stops (33 mins) to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Ave- JFK Station. Then follow signs to the AirTrain JFK Red line for 2 stops (9 mins). We recommend allowing for at least 1 ½ hours for this commute in case the trains run slower or have any issues. On the weekends even longer as that is when they do construction on the tracks. •Newark – take the 1 train at 157th Street to 42nd Street Port Authority (14 stops). Then take the Newark Airport Express bus directly to Newark. At least 1 ½ hours commute time from apartment.

Parking Tips in the Neighborhood

•Street parking is available for free but make sure to carefully read the signs for rules and non-parking hours. There are street cleaners once a week during which you are not allowed to park or stand by the curb, so be sure to check which day and times so you don’t get a ticket! Please note: in NY you may not park LESS THAN 15 feet from a hydrant or will get a hefty ticket. •The closest parking garage is located at 779 Riverside Drive (visit lazparking.com for the rates)

Via vs Uber or Lyft

Via is an app which you can download similar to uber or lyft but it is shared car ride with very good rates. Via only works in Manhattan and will save you a lot of money over regular yellow taxis, uber and lyft. :)
