You can rent bikes here. Boone has some great road bucolic road biking around Valle Crucis, Sugar Grove, and Todd. You can also hit the Blue Ridge Parkway if you are feeling brave and energetic. Really nice and helpful owners and staff.

This is one of my go-to restaurants in Boone. It's set in the old jail house. It feels elegant but homey. They feature homemade local Southern foods, but they still feel fresh and healthy. Try their tomato pie and cobblers.

Get outside
Because you have to get outside when you're in Boone! Summer is a delicious time, but spring and fall are delightful as well. Winter can be a bit more challenging but there is plenty of skiing around.
You can walk there from our apartment. Runs over a stream. Lots of runners, cyclists, kids, and dogs.

If here in the summer, you must tube the New River! It's relaxing and cool and only $15-20.

You can get to the Parkway off of 105 in Blowing Rock. Our favorite short hike is Green Knob Trail and favorite long hike is Boone Fork Loop Trail (next to stream and also has great picnic spots). We also like EB Jeffress Park Cascades Trail for waterfalls. Canoeing on Price Lake is beautiful in the fall.
