Stansted Mountfitchet is more than a village near the airport. It has a long history with evidence of Iron Age settlers and most notably, a Saxon Settlement mentioned in the Doomsday book. Nowadays, it is thriving and welcoming Town with plenty to offer. Amenities • Tesco Express • The Co-op Supermarket • Boots the Chemist • Library • Stansted Surgery, Castle Maltings- 01279 813 200 • Romeera Leisure Centre for drop in classes. (The nearest pool is Grange Paddocks in Bishops Stortford) • Dorringtons- Lovely local bakery on Cambridge Road Eating and Drinking Here are places within walking distance that we would recommend but please enjoy exploring. There are also good restaurants in Bishops Stortford. We have starred some of the venues that can offer breakfast The Rose and Crown Pub- Friendly with good food and a good selection of beers and gins The Dog and Duck- Lively, friendly with live music and quiz nights The Cork House Wine Bar- Small pit stop for wine or cocktails Linden House Bar- For coffees, dinners or late drinks Churchills Fish and Chip Shop The Wood Grill- Excellent Pizzas, burgers and grills The Bombay Butler- Very friendly Indian Crimson Eight- Traditional Chinese restaurant with a substantial menu Mouchak Restaurant- Another welcoming Indian restaurant Lower Street Brasserie- Refined food and attentive service *Yeomans’ Café- For breakfast, hearty lunches and excellent coffee (Opens 7am midweek, weekends 9am) *Bear and Eden Café- A new addition to our village with an ‘aim to please’ attitude (Opens 8.30am everyday, 10am Sunday) *The Tea Boutique- Chinzy tea room with good cakes (Opens 8am midweek, 9am Saturday. Closed Sunday) *Dorringtons bakery- For a sandwich to go or a breakfast pastry (Open 7am weekdays, 7.30am Saturday. Closed Sunday). All of the takeaways in the village are good. We especially like Crimson Eight for Chinese, and Bombay Butler for Indian
