Years ago, when San Antonio was a backwater burg, lawyers and their ilk liked to get away from the stress and strain of negotiating cattle-rustling claims by grabbing a refreshing adult beverage with their clients and colleagues - and, the Esquire was more than happy to assist them. Dark and mysterious, like the cattle-rustlers, the Esquire was the perfect shadowy spot for secret negotiations, and its proximity to the San Antonio River perfect, in case those negotiations went awry. Today, misty memories of its former glory prevail, and the libation lounge and lite-bite emporium plays host to a new generation of coders and techies that also enjoy dark places

Being uber-patriotic, San Antonio's civic community turned it into a park and slapped Teddy's name on it. Today, a pool replaces much of the sylvan and picnic tables stand in place of the caissons, but it's definitely a park and Teddy would probably love all the big sticks....
