This place sums up the local vibe. Organic, seasonal dishes served on long tables with everyone sharing. Come seriously hungry as you'll roll out of here. Booking is essential as they have set meal times with everyone being served together.

This is a Totnes institution and has been around since time immemorial. The food is seasonal and inventive and there is always a buzz around the place. If you have a young children they tend to do deals on their pizza and steaks early in the evening (except Fridays and Saturday). It's a good place to just pop in for a glass of wine as well.

This is one of our favourite places for brunch. What better way to start the day than with a swim in the sea and a delicious breakfast. They serve food throughout the day as well as snacks and ice-creams and in the summer they tend to have live music and events.

You can actually see Sharpham from Dart View Barn just across the river. We'd suggest a walk from Sharpham to Totnes and back. The views along the river are stunning and you can end your walk with wine and cheese tasting! If you've never tasted English wine it's a good place to start. The estate has been farmed for about 1,000 years and the main house is from the 1770s and is rather grand. The Sharpham Trust also runs courses and retreats.
