You can access the beach from within the grounds. It's perfect for dog walking and you can walk to the harbour of Watchet, looking for fossils along the way. The rocks at Doniford Bay consist of Lower Lias and Triassic beds, and contain some superb white ammonites, which can be found in the rocks on the foreshore. There are also a number of well-preserved brachiopods and bivalves.

Entertainment & Activities

Train spot the beautiful old steam engines or get on board and travel the longest heritage steam route in the country (Minehead one direction and Bishops Lydeard the other, it doesn't quite connect with the mainline at Taunton - yet). originally a country branch line of the Great Western (God's Wonderful) Railway. You can actually board it (or get off after your day's travel) at Doniford Halt, which is a 5 minute walk from the house)
