Food Scene

Really lovely local bakery and coffeehouse. Local heirloom grains turned into really good bread. Nice patio in front and back when it's warm enough.

Good Breakfast situation here. Other meals may also be good but we honestly haven't been for anything else.

Great thin crust pizza and good beer selection. Sweet Cow Ice Cream is right next door, makes a good 1-2 punch. Really great happy hour deals.

Parks & Nature

Can be cold and windy but Eldorado Canyon is really spectacular and a quick drive from here. On the weekends, get there early because it does fill up. If you're a climber, you already know about it and if you aren't - those tiny specks dangling from the gigantic cliffs are, in fact, people.

Essentials

What we love in Boulder and Louisville Favorite places to eat in Louisville: The bread at Moxie is excellent. Croissants are also very good. They have a sandbox out back with shade which makes a nice place the kids to play while you sip a latte. The Huckleberry is great for breakfast. Definitely go to Lucky Pie for pizza and then to Sweet Cow next door for ice cream! That’s one of our favorite evenings. The Underground has a lovely rooftop terrace and good burgers. Both of the breweries across the street from there have a nice happy hour. Pica’s has pretty good Mexican food and yummy margaritas and lots of outdoor tables. There’s a little farmers market on Saturday morning in Louisville and a much bigger one in boulder (which also has more veggies) on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings. The Louisville Library is big and open and a good place to go hang out if it’s hot outside. In Boulder: Pearl St is closed to cars and is the main shopping street with lots of good restaurants and bars. Our big highlight is a popsicle place called Le Pops that’s so, so delicious. The Boulder Bookstore is terrific! Hikes, etc: Chautauqua in Boulder has trails right into the foothills, close to town. It’s busy on weekends. Eldorado Canyon state park is gorgeous and has a nice ridge trail that’s not steep with beautiful views. Go early, especially on weekends, or you’ll never get in (I think it’s $8 per car). Rocky Mountain National Park is an hour and a half away. Magnificently beautiful hikes! Nederland is a cute mountain town 45 minutes up the canyon. You can go for a hike and then go for bbq and beer. The Carousel of Happiness is all hand-carved animals and really beautiful. A kid favorite. There’s lots and lots of food in Denver! We haven’t gotten to do a lot of exploring there yet. Tubing in Golden is fantastic. You can rent tubes downtown there first. Lyons is about 45 minutes away and a very cute little town with a terrific river park called Lavern M. Johnson. It has river access for swimming and wading, a zip line for kids and shade for picnics. While in Lyons stop off at the Dairy Bar for ice cream. https://www.lyonscolorad

The Whole Foods in Boulder is a massive establishment - fun to visit if you're into such places. The Superior location is closer to us and a little simpler.

Louisville has spent a pretty penny on the Community Rec Center and it is a nice facility as a result. It's close and day rates are reasonable.
