This is where the hipsters hang out. There are bars, pubs, cafes, restaurants, street food, designer shops (mostly style-led furniture shops) and it is the trendiest part of London right now. And really easy to get to via London Bridge, and a bus up Bishopsgate.

Sightseeing

If you see nothing else, see this. You have to pay to get in, but the White tower is over a thousand years old, survived the Great Fire of London, houses the Crown jewels, the famous black birds (Ravens) and the Gentlemen Warders (soldiers) still wear a medieval uniform as they patrol the site.

Take the 54 Bus from stop HL (opposite Lewisham Fire Station) to Blackheath Village. Stop for coffee or lunch, then walk up onto the heath, past the church with the tall steeple, across towards greenwich park, and enter by the main gate. To your right there are some enclosures with wild animals (deer, etc). Then walk straight along the wide avenue to the end, for a stunning view of London, including the millennium dome, and the Royal Palace on the banks of the Thames. To your left is the Royal Observatory, and the Meridian line, from which world time is calculated. Descend the slope to Greenwich. Wander the narrow back Streets, full of History, visit the Cutty Sark, a Tea Clipper in dry dock

It has so much to offer. Take the 54 bus to Blackheath, enjoy the shops, bars cafes and restaurants, then stroll past the beautiful Church, across the heath and into the park. Take a right to see the deer, and wander the winding paths, before heading towards the Royal Observatory. Marvel at the breathtaking views over London from the belvedere, looking down onto the Royal Naval College, the Queen's house and the O2 (formerly the Millennium dome) You can also see Canary wharf, and even the London Eye from here. Then check out the Observatory, and stand on the meridian line, from which all work time is calibrated. Then it's a gentle stroll down through the park to Historic Greenwich itself.
